I have been happy with TataSky for many years after shifting from Dish TV (I feel anyone will be after experiencing the terrible customer service of Dish), and have to mention here Tata's customer service is fairly decent.  However with so much of competition around I feel competition is catching up with this operator.  The content is fairly static and quality of transmission is beginning to feel low.  Also they wont reward their long time subscribers and charge them same as new connection for upgrades. If you are OK with basic DTH and 'whatever is offered in HD' options then Tatasky works.

I recently opted for their DVR via the Tata Sky HD+ and have been stuck with a strange issue of not being able to record the programs properly. The mismatch of the EPG ( Electronic Program Guide - probably being stored static with TataSky) and the content provider altering it for better ad revenue dynamically, has rendered the recorded programs of no use.

This EPG mismatch issue is resulting in DVR starting to record the program(s) well after it starts and stopping it before it ends abruptly. Effectively the DVR is useless in such situations as this pattern is felt on most channels. I have been following up with TataSky on this and they are a bit clueless on how to resolve and silent until now.

Funnily my Airtel DVR does not have this issue at all.

Just watch out for the DVR option in TataSky before you make your decision. Also the quality of their transmission has been gradually going bad from their earlier days. I am not sure if this is because of competition offering new technology.
