Say Tata to Tata Sky

I really mean, just say Tata, Bye Bye to Tata Sky before even you take a look into what it has to offer.

Its sheer waste of Energy, leave alone, money, time etc. A waste of Energy leading to a waste of hope. I can warn you, you would fall into a vicious whirlpool of unending troubles.

It was that day when we bought our new Samsung LCD TV that this sin came inside our house for free. Having got it for free, out of lateral conventional thinking we had installed it and the set up was made. Dish moved in and out and the picture came on the TV. Hurrah we made it we thought. It is later when we caught the miseries of this Menace.

Tata Sky has different packages for viewing selected music channels. Habituated to viewing Cable TV all our life, the new concept sank in slowly in our throat, we gotta pay more to view all the channels. Fine, we bought the vouchers and we recharged our account. But Alas, still a few(a lot) channels are still missing.

Leave aside the quality of the channels, nowadays the cable operators are also equipped with sector boxes to improve the quality of the picture. Favorite movie channels are still out of reach, cause the voucher didn’t cover it.

On top of all the missing channels was this, NEO sports, the most watched channel in every household. To view this channel you please call …. How dare it not show me the channel on top of it orders me to call some number, wait for half hour on line, not to forget to mention that the cell is getting billed for this, an unresponsive, dumb headed representative picks up the call only to tell me that I got to pay more. Out of public interest in the house, I still make that extra payment and when we finally make it up to watch the series, it is in the middle of the exciting series does this reminder come that its time to recharge to avoid de-activation.

Frustrated…we continue the saga of buying the vouchers and recharging through SMS.

Engrossed by the daily chores, sometimes we missed out the date by which we have to recharge. And then there were days when the whole family had to spend without Television. After a day’s hectic work, you come home to relax and you find this b reminder on your TV, takes out more energy out of you. The usual cable was far better, with the bill collector at the door, if you had a deficit of cash at home, you would ask him to come again, and he does that…still you can enjoy the television, even when you have postponed the payment. It’s this exact user friendly nature that is missing in this TS.

It’s just that the Television has become a part of our lives, so much that we can’t even tolerate a single day’s absence of it.

Further there were some new channels which we got habituated to, and then finally when we started following those channels that we see this line scrolling that this channel would be available in lifestyle plan only.

For those who have been used to viewing the traditional cable TV, the new recharging system, channel barring, buying vouchers all seem to be a big menace.

The vouchers are also not available. You find a Tata Sky board on every corner of the road, but when you enquire about it they say they don’t have them. At least of viewing Tata Sky for six months, not even once did I get a voucher from a shop I first visited. There is a vast gap in the supply chain mechanism of these vouchers, even the shop from which I bought before is not available again later in the month. Also the online system is more pathetic. The site is too slow and at such a rate, you dare not perform any credit card purchases or bank transactions.

Overall the service is miserable and pathetic. Hence please don’t spend your valuable bucks on this menace. You could save a lot better keeping away from this. Even if you get it for free, just like in my case, you could avoid all these miseries and keep away from troubles.
