My Personal Experience with Tata Sky... Review on Tata Play

I am enjoying my Tata Sky connection, but I just wish to share some of my experience with other Tata Sky subscribers and like to tell them all about some of the important policies. I always suggest to read all terms & policies and enquire everything with the sales person before buying.

The advertisement coming these days on many channels through idiot box (although the TV is not so IDIOT now-a-days but I use to call it like this) in which one family is enjoying their life watching TV through Tata Sky. They are playing, singing, dancing, swimming, cycling, watching TV through Tata Sky and all these things they are doing collectively. And their neighbours are jealous of them for their unity and enjoyment in life. Apart from other things I wonder how they manage to watch TV sitting altogether when they belong to different age groups. They are somewhat oldies, kids and young in age, how their choices are same. Anyway its all media and they try to make it as attractive and catchy and as possible.

*My Experience with Tata Sky

*After getting the price of new cable connection (Rs. 1500 non-refundable deposit and Rs. 350 per month) as worthless in Ahmedabad we have decided to bought Tata Sky in June last year for good picture quality and easy recharge facility. The problem starts in our Tata Sky from the very beginning as we have bought it in monsoon season. We always find our Tata sky got disconnected in bad weather. If there was some rain and thunder showers outside we wouldn't be able to watch any channel through Tata Sky. We have complained about this problem to their Call Center but they never took our problem seriously, always saying that this is minor problem and could be problem in your area only. Although I haven't took a chance to visit any flat in my locality to check if they have Tata Sky in their home and facing such kind of problem. But I haven't seen this kind of problem in any of my friends home having Tata Sky connection but in different area. I have asked Tata Sky Team to check for any error in the dish antenna or set top box and replace them if any. There technician came to my home and after doing some checking and adjustments, he said everything will be fine now. And in this time period monsoon ended in Ahmedabad. Now we have to wait for another monsoon next year to see if there will be any problem in our Tata Sky. We have lost many good programmes and cricket matches due to problem in our Tata sky.

*Connection in only single TV

*One major issue with Tata Sky is its connectivity, it can be connected to only one TV at a time, we can't watch different channels on two different TVs with a single Tata Sky connection.

*Temp Disconnection Policy

*They use to promote their temporary disconnection policy in such a way that one can disconnect his/her Tata Sky connection for a limited time period just by calling their Call Center. But they never told that the connection will continue to charged until there is a balance in account along with a grace period of 3 days for which your account will go in negative balance and this negative balance will be adjusted in later recharge. That means subscriber has to bear for this grace period.

*Transfer Policy

*They charge Rs. 600 as transfer fee/charge from one location to another irrespective of the distance. And if it takes some time, your account will continue to be charged and you will lose your balance without connection. So it is suggested here to plan your transfer or relocation with respect to the period to be taken in Tata Sky disconnection from one location and re connection to another location. Try to use all your balance before disconnection from first location. You have to recharge your connection with Rs. 600 after re connection to new location along with the regular monthly recharge of your choice.

*Additional Packages

*Many well known channels are now getting paid channels on Tata Sky which were free channels some time before. One has to buy additional packages to enjoy those channels. Major names in this list are Neo-Sports, ESPN, Bindass, etc. and now UTV Channel will also get paid channel from coming May. Although there are many good channels for me to enjoy in the basic recharge of Rs. 300 per 30 days.

*Recharge Options

*Tata sky subscribers have many options for their monthly recharge,

1. They can buy a recharge coupon of their need and

A. call to Tatasky helpline number and follow their instructions for recharge, one has to dial the  subcriber id from unregistered mobile number. If you have registered your mobile number with Tatasky then it will help you further calls. (if you will not get the number busy then you will be lucky)

B. sms the 16 digit number on recharge coupon to specific number. (but in my case it really didnt work)

C. enter the 16 digit number on recharge coupon to specific place in online recharge option through their website. (I have recharged through this option this month)

1. Recharge through Credit Card on Tatasky website. (will try some other time)

In the last Tata Sky is at least better than the local cable connection in terms of picture quality, connectivity and service. Also we get some good professionals to fight with it, if there is any problem. We don't have to argue with local Dadas and Bhais for our problems as most of the local cable operators are not to good enough person of the local area.

All the best to Tata Sky subscribers. I recommend Tata Sky at least over cable connection. I don't have any idea about Dish TV.
