This writeup is more of personal experience and less of review.
An experience of anguish , anger and frustration.
And this experience has made one thing pretty clear, "As a customer, you are taken for granted in India"
My journey with TATA Sky started on roughly 26th Oct-2006. The month of Diwali.
The festive mood and my constant attempts to give my family the best possible things in life lured me towards it.I paid somewhere around 4500 Rs/- and got it installed.
Probably we was the first to get this setup box from TATA in my city.
The experience was over whelming. The picture quality was superb. The options and functionality provided where great. The overall TV viewing experience was worth trying.
Once more and more people started buying the setup boxes, the real game started. As I had said before, the customer in India is always taken for granted.
The minimum price of recharge coupen increased.Most of the important channels were blocked because they became pay channals! and we started paying a huge amount for just watching some basic one's!
All this was still ok because the picture quality was great and we coudn't have afforded to go back to the cable wala and bargained for a low quality viewing experience.
But the final nail in the coffin was when we changed our residence to a newley constructed home.We applied for the re-installation. The charge for this was 600 Rs/-.We called the customer care center but everytime the call got disconnected inbetween while speaking and they even didnt bother to callback !! (Customer service for you :))
And finaly the TATA Sky guy came and made the re installation.
But it was in a very rookie way. He pulled the cable from the window, hanging all the way on the interior wall from one end to another. We asked him that since we have a concealed wire in the wall he could simply join his cable to it instead of pulling the wire down the window.
And the response was crisp, it would cost us 500 Rs more!We called up the customer care and inquired and even they said it would cost us 500 rs more!Then why this 600 Rs is for?
That means we would end up shedding 1100 Rs for a re installation and we all know by now that a new connection is available for 1500 Rs (Geetha Bhabhi ki kassam :))
Does this make any sense.We have been a customer for past 2 years and this is what we get to hear from them.
Somedays after the re installation, the picture was clipped on all the four corners.The image on TV was not displayed properly.We called up the customer care again reporting the problem but they said we need to pay 300Rs to get it right!!!!!
Now why the hell 300Rs for?We were told that the warranty on the box had expired and so we had to pay this amount.What warranty? We was never told about any such things previously!
I have decided that "No more jinga lala. Its better off with my local cabewala".(Wah depression makes you a shayar).
TATA has proven again that they provide good products with the worst customer service.I swear that I will never go for a TATA product anymore.
Right from TATA salt to TATA Nano. I swear I will avoid them.
With TATA Nano, the Tata's are trying to give a car for the billion of us in India. But beware, they are also risking a billion depressed souls :(
Final Verdict: TATA Sky.....Isko laga dala too paisa barbaad karr dala :(
TATA BYE BYE for the Tata's.
