Hi Friends,
I am Debraj Dutta from chennai, work in CTS.Me and three more of us have a regular bad habit of going out every weekend. I bought a nano after lot of research regarding everything on 4th of Aug 2011. I have 3 experiences to share. All of them being long trips.
1. Tiruvannamalai(181kms * 2=362 kms) <>
I started off from chennai at around 4pm from my residence in thoraipakkam. Throughout the whole journey on nh45 till Tindivanam the car had a smooth and rocking acceleration. I was contantly cruising on 60Kmph. But still the fuel indicator showed me the tank is reliably full. from tindivanam we had to take nh66. After some potholed road in the tindivanam market(likely 10kms) we were back on good but 2 lane road of nh66. Trust me guys the suspension and pick up as well as the comfort provided by the small beauty was extraordinary. by 7:50pm we reached the Tiruvannamalai Temple Parking. The 3 hrs 50 mins is not the delay caused by Nano.the later 50mins was because of traffic jam on NH45 near tambaram and also in Tindivanam. Quickly and also luckily we made a visit to that awesome temple. Even in the darkness of night the temple was lookin awesome.after temple we had dinner and were again back on the return route.started off at11:12 pm and were again cruising the pitch dark forested NH66.the main advantage in the night was the bright headlamps of Tata Nano, no problem at all viewing the road.After all most 280 kms done from home we decide to refill the tank and TO OUR DAMN SURPISE THE CAR ONLY TOOK 11.5 LITRES TO FULLPPP! (24.34 KMPL).AWSOME MILEAGE. We reached home by 1:50am.CONTENT AND HAPPY TILL THE DEPTH OF HEART.
==2. KANYAKUMARI(732 KMS * 2= 1462 KMS) ==
Start of Journey= 12th Aug 2011 5:35 pm
Trichy at 10:20pm(road taken was nh 45 superb smooth silky road)
stopped for dinner and smoking for 1 hr.again started at 11:30 pm
Madurai at 1:50 am(trichy to madurai NH45b again very good 4 lane road.)
Madurai to NH7 Link start(22kms potholed road.but good if in nano)
Kanykumari at 13th aug 2011 5:58am.( road taken was NH 7.silky buttered road.no potholes.4 lane
saw sunrise at Kanykumari.and the had break fast and found out a hotel sangam international
Our Plan was 13th we tour Kanyakumari then 14th we tour Nagercoil Mathoor Bridge, Pechiparai Dam, Padmanabhapuram palace and Thiruparappu Falls and finally 15th outskirts of Kanykumari and return.local roaming was about 270 kms and mainly traffic plus hilly roads.we were succesful in sticking to our original plan of roaming there and were ready to return on 15th afternoon
Started off at 2:00 pm 15th Aug 2011
Reached Madurai by 6:30pm.the delay was due to the heavy rain which started in the midway and the main problem was there was huge traffic and un manageable amount of water on the road.any ways
we approached the link road to nh45b.(belive me that potholed 22kms was like hell in rain).but FRIENDS THE NANO DID NOT EVEN SQUEAK OR SCREECH.IT SIMPLY CRUISED ON EVERY POTHOLE TO MAKE US REACH THE BP PETROL PUMP OUTSIDE MADURAI.SIMPLY UNBELIEVABLE
AFTER ABOUT 2 HRS OF BREAK DUE TO THE FATIGUED JOURNEY AND HAVING DINNER.WE STARTED OFF from Madurai outskirts by 9:00pm sharp and I was determined to reach chennai by 5 am any ways
reached trichy 10:45 pm road was good again and also rain was less.
after trichy next 364 kms till chennai was smooth .with slight rain.but extreme body fatigue.i made frequent stops.actually I had to drive alone.the main reason.
reached chennai by 6:00 am on 16th aug and jumped to bed for sleep
Mileage - highways(25.67kmpl minimum) accurate measurement
local city ways(18-20 kmpl dont knw accurately
total distance covered= 1720 kms in 3 days .petrol required= 70.67 litres

3. CHENNAI -KOLKATA-DURGAPUR(1870 KMS)
