I bought this little bud in Nov-2011 after thinking a lot to meet my daily need as well as my budget. There were many -ve comments from my friends and neighbors not to opt for this - citing the service network might not be good, nano will not be robust enough to meet our city roads etc. But, I decided to go for it.
Firstly, being use to power steered vehicles, was finding bit difficult to use the manual steering. Later got use to it. my nano appx. gave me 20 KM PL with A/C in highways. I am not able calculate it in city rides.
With rRajeev_Vermact to robustness, I felt its fine. It has decent suspension and able to easily pull 4+1 with moderate weight. Though it looks like a mini car, actually it is spacious.
All is well, till I discovered a unique problem with my nano. I didn't start nano for 3 consecutive days and tried to start it on the 4th day. I noticed the battery is discharged completely by itself. No clue, called the breakdown assistance and charged it. Sent my vehicle to VST service station in Chennai and as per their examination - no discrepancies were observed. But the same problem occurred again. It was very painful for me to get it re-charged every time by calling break down assistance. Though the break down assistance service is good, But no body able to solve my actual problem. So far I have used breakdown assistance thrice and thrice sent my vehicle back to service station in last 2 months.
My vehicle is in VST service station @ chennai for past 14 days, no clue whats going on. I don't get any update and I have to call them to get an update. Finally, they are claiming, its fault with the battery and they going to replace it. But replacing a battery should not take 14 days(10 if sundays & holidays are considered).
I am going to test my vehicle again by keeping it idle for 3 days - post this delivery and will post my review here. I feel bad about my decision to buy this vehicle due to poor service support(post delivery support).
Here is my update.
how I resolved the problem: after giving up hope, I have raised this issue in "Tata Nano" page in Facebook. I got a quick response from tata motors, followed by status update call from my service station contact person and was informed - vehicle is ready for delivery and they have changed the complete alternator assembly(which charges the battery). Within 24 hours all things set right.
Post delivery Testing: I am happy to say, it is performing good. my nightmare of battery drain problem didn't repeat. I have even kept my vehicle more than a week and it started without any problem.
So far, I have driven up to 5000kms. Performance is good and no problem.
I drive mostly in high ways and it gives me 21kmpl with A/C(thermostat knob is positioned at 2 points less than max).
Verdict: Value for money - considering the space, mileage, pep drive etc. Effectiveness of post sales service is what tata motors should look into.
