Nano Still a Dream. Review on Tata Nano

About Price : I would not consider it to be cheap looking at on road price in Delhi. Their is difference in what said and what they charge. For Lunar Silver CX it cost me 1, 67, 044 in Delhi. Break Up as below as on 31-mar-2010.

About Tata Motors .

I did not get my allotment letter in original up-till March, 2010 even after calling them several time at call centre. Its not a compulsory requirement for purchase. A print out or scanned copy send my tata motors works. Or the Territory Manager can issue u if you insist. After lots of follow up they finally delivered me two allotment letter one with Jan-March 10 (via pvt courier) && another with Apr-June 10 (via Speed post ) delivery dates.

About Dealer:

Auto Link (Delhi, Hauz Khas): You feel like sarkari office. You really have to be pushy to get your work done. I wish I had options. I am really worked hard to get my purchase order opened. Without purchase order opened in Tata motor SAP system, they will not sell from 1-apr-10 onward. They had schedule to delivered three time which got postpone due to one reason or another. The extended warranty provided by taking 1999/- is not all clear to me as to how they will provide. They only give three free service slip which is valid for a year. On insisting and follow up they gave me a booklet with extended warranty which is valid for 24, 000 KM or XX month which ever is early. I feel this is a cheat, as their is lots of term and condition in *. Don’t buy any accessories from Tata motors. In local market you will get hell lot of things like sun film, music system, seat cover, foot rest, steering cover, car cover, rub trail, etc

About Purchase Formality : Its easy, as you have to submit 2 photo, ID proof, Address Proof, Remaining Payment, Previous Payment Proof, Application Form Original, Allotment Letter. Form 20. Sign the docs. Done with Purchase Formality . I thought for upgrade but looking at effort in opening up my purchase order. I dropped the idea. Buy extra lock grear lock looking at present scenario of theft case. During delivery they have some formalities as well. At the time of delivery , you need sign the delivery slip and they give the key + box of chocolate and take digital picture of delivery as proof with you standing in front of car with registration no. If you are in delhi, you will get ur smart card (RC) after two month . You can check your status at delhiveh.nic.in/

First Hand Experience : I am migrating to nano from motor cycle TVS victor 125 CC using last 6 Yrs. After getting inside the car. You feel spacious . Good Leg room. Dashboard looks good. Steering Comfortable. Seats and hosiery Ok room for improvements.

Back seat OK. Engine at back side. Doors nice to operate. Looks like a better Matiz. Engine noise OK when doors closed. AC and Cooling OK its start of delhi summer. You feel a bit uncomfortable and in risk about news of engine fire but keep cool and alert. When you go to Fuel Station for filling up petrol, then you feel why the hell they have kept the re-fueling point into front bonnet. Its a pain , every time you have to open the front bonnet for re-fueling. Steering bit hard in beginning. Hoping it smooth out. Heating of engine on back side is too much which I feel , I am not sure how other model with back engine have it. The engine is hot enough to bake a bread on it. It has 4-speed manual transmission (gear) plus one reverse. The clear-lens headlamps, clear-lens tail-lamp are good nice. Fuel Efficiency is good for city commuter. Its hatchbacks so good space. Interior sometime, I feel should be of better quality many parts like side view mirror, indicator, etc I feel its loose.

Driving Experience : Nice to drive in city like delhi, its good for driving ~60KM daily which I do for office-home. Fuel economy seems good not measured yet. AC effective in delhi summer . Very easy to park. If I have to take it outisde city, I will think twice. Steering, if compare to power bit not comfortable and small. You can ride in a DND expressway at 80-90km/hr comfortably. Within city you can easily run at 60km/hr. The space b/w brake, clutch and accelerator is less sometime you end up pressing both brake and accelerator. You will love it in parking especially in Delhi where you have tough time parking your car.

Tata After Sell Service : Went for a service on 8-May-2010, a week before one month to Auto Link, Vasant Kunj, service centre. I have driven it around 350 Km. They just washed and dried and gave it back to me. I had asked the to fix the brake and clutch which I feel . Needed some attention. To my surprise they just returned me with same. They made sure to add a small scratch on right door. See how they handle your car. Cleaning was good. They took almost 3 Hrs. Cost me Zero in first service as it hardly run 350 km. Good thing that they keep asking your feedback once at delivery after service and another after someday from Pune.

Mileage: Its approx 17Km/L with AC on/off in Delhi driving condition before 2nd service. Hope to improve after 2nd service.

Conclusion : THE CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN DELIVERED TO ME BY MARCH 2010. IT WAS DELIVERED TO ME ON 13-APR-10. My final advice to people would be to use your own judgment whether to go for it or not. If you can afford to purchase bet
