I sold my best ever car "fiat grande Punto" in the month of October, 2015 and inorder to fill in that gap I was searching for a car, but I decided to buy a more practical car which I can use in the hefty, snailing traffic in Cochin city. Being an advocate, I need a car that can swift pass through the traffic and it should not burn my pocket also. I thought of buying a maruthi car and was about to start to the nearest dealer that I happened to see the latest GEN X TATA NANO parked infront of the High Court building.
I was surprised with the amount of parking space that it required. Very less.Very less.then I had a second thought; Follow the nano. fortunately that nano belonged to one of my friend. I requested him to give the nano for one day. He gave it to me for one day. From morning to evening( 10.00 AM to 06.00 PM, I drove the Nano from my office to High court. from there to District court, back to high court, then to Family court at Kaloor, From Kaloor to DRT at Manorama Junction, from Manorama junction to High court and so on. I was totally astonished on its handling, power, A/c, road presence, Cabin space and especially mileage.
Next day morning I went to concorde motors at Ernakulam and booked my tata nano Gen X XT. All my family members, especially my wife was strongly against it. Within one week vehicle was delivered to me. Along with my wife, I took the delivery. all the way back home she was telling me that she is upset on my choice that I went down from punto to nano. surprisingly my parents who are residing at Trivandrum came to ernakulam by train that I had to go to pick them from the railway station. I took my wife and children with me. My elder son who was travelling for the first time in a Nano was really impressed with its look. He said it looks like a Toy car. After we reached the railway station, when my parents saw the Nano they were taken back by surprise. Father was really shocked to see that I bought a Nano. but when it is the time to load the luggage, he was literally scolding me until he was taken back by surprise that there is a dickey in the new nano. I leisurely opened it and loaded the three big bags that they have brought. My parents could not believe what they saw. My father took his seat in the front side and my mother along with my wife and children in the rear. second surprise. my father could not believe that Nano has such a big leg space in the front passenger side. My mother and wife said it is because I adjusted the seat towards the back. Then I showed them I didn't adjust anything. My mother and my wife who were expecting a congested seating in the rear with the children was taken by surprise when it was found that all the four can sit freely in the rear seat.
Now its time to ride back home. All of them except me was shocked to see that Nano rode through the snailing traffic at the MG Road with ease with very good Air conditioning and silent Cabin. there was no rattling or growling whenever I had to accelerate in the traffic. there was no loss of power that I was driving Nano through the traffic in its 2nd and 3rd gear. My father was, infact, watching every movement of the vehicle. He was surprised to see that it has electronic power steering, front two door power windows, stereo with bluetooth connectivity etc. On the way to my house, I had to stop at my office to take some files. When I came back, my father asked me to handover him the key that he want to drive it. He could not believe what he experienced. All his negativism towards Nano were gone when we reached my house.
For me, GenX Nano XT is a value for money. It has a very spacious and silent Cabin, very smooth and responsive power steering, power brakes, powerful airconditioning, a good music system with bluetooth connectivity and of course good mileage. my nano has crossed only 1000 kms and it gives me a mileage of 16kms/l with full A/C in the city. I have also taken it for a long ride in the high way( To Alappuzha). It gave me a mileage of 24.5 kms/ l with full A/c on. The seating is also worth mentioning; the driver as well as passenger seats have good thigh support and the back rest is also supportive. so driving fatigue is nowhere near.
cleaning the car is the most awesome part. With one medium bucket of water, we get a sparkling Nano everyday. All my other cars( xylo and wagon r) and my royal enfield Bullet 500 CC are now taking a long break in the garage. Now I feel like Nano has become an integral part of my life.
so, if you are thinking of buying a city Car, buy a tata nano GenX XT. It is worth the money. for those who are thinking about why I didn't opt for AMT model, It is costlier and is not that powerful like XT.
