You might have read lots of reviews on this car where people have covered every inch of this vehicle. Then you may question on what the hell I'm going to talk on this car here?! I'm going to write nothing new about this car.. It's not about the detail.. It's about my experience with this car (with some specs information)! In a nutshell this car is all about the Biz word 'Value for Money' that you, me & anyone will look for. It has got tons of space, subjective looks and the mileage. People don't expect superior quality or luxury when they have less budget. Tata understands this very well than anyother manufacture and given a product which meets these basics.
My Experience so far -
I had purchased this car in Nov'10 (Quadrajet with ABS), BS-4 model, for 7.4L On-road, Hyderabad. This 90PS @ 200NM engine is not so great till it crosses 1700 - 1750 RPM and after that it shows what it has inside. When I recently went to Goa, I was able to reach 140 at ease and the mileage was around 16KMPL which is not bad at all. You can achieve upto Maximum 25Kmpl if you can drive between 80 - 100Kmph without braking (on a long stretch, I was able to achieve this!). Gears are not so smooth but it's not bad either. Brakes (particularly ABS) are so effective which were not seen in other Tata cars before. Great job Tata. Suspension is more on the softer side and hence when you cross a pot-hole slowdown your vehicle otherwise you may hear a bang noise inside the cabin. I was told by the service technician that this can rectified by making the suspension little tight. Not sure how exactly it works! Apart from this there are lot of infotainments inside the car.. It has got a integrated 2-Din system, 2+2 basic speakers, Bluetooth, Hands free calling facility, Aux port (for your IPODs), USB drive, steering mounted audio controls etc. etc.
Now on the cons - Even though Tata has taken a leap step towards improving the car, it's still not upto the mark. Out of 100 this car scores only 50% when it comes to quality, fit & finish & service. Even the AC cooling is not so-effective and you may frequently hear complaints from the rear seat passengers! Company should educate and keep a control on the service centers where they are still having the 'So what' mindsent which will sometimes irritate you as a customtakeouter.
Overall, this car gives little more than what you can expect at this price. If you have this car in mind and still wondering whether you want to go or not then my two cents here -
If you are really looking for absolute Quality / Luxury (with 'no compromise' mindset) and big budget the you should go for something else like, Toyota or Honda etc.
If you can manage with average Quality and pretty decent car with good features then don't wait anymore; Tata Manza is the one to go for MAAMU..
People who is still wondering whether to go for Diesel or Petrol -
Experts has done lot of analysis in this area. You can go through the same and take your desicion! My suggestion is that you will not repent if you go for Diesel even if your daily running is short.
