It has been long since I wrote one review...anyways after the experience with...TataIndicom WiMax connection...i thought I can give an informative review so that people can choose good ISP...
First of all when we decided to take the connection...there were so many offers in Bangalore from Airtel, Reliance and Tata...
Tata has the best offer that time..which was providing internet usage for 4 months at the rate of 3500/-
the speed was 256 Kbps....and it was WiMax supposedly the latest technology....moreover . I was getting a HP colour Printer worth 1500/- free with that connection....there were no installation charges...seems like the bestt...
After calling the guy and filin forms...the installation was done within 3 days.....aftr some struggle...the guy opened the google and told net is working and has left in a hurry....
NOW started the real problem....just after the guy has left...i got disconnected....i called the customer care and after some instructions I opened the router page and rebooted it etc etc....and so much stuff....but the connection was very unstable...and I was getting disconnected every 5-10 mins...frm that day onwards everyday in the evening my connection becomes very unstable...even after so many complaints...and so many technicians coming and checking the connection...it remaind unstable and thr was so much disconnection...i got vexed up and asked if I could terminate the services...but I was told that I wont be able to get any money back....in a helpless state, I continued with it...
By the way...i did not get the printer just after I took the connection...it took around THREEmonths to get my printer...that too after I called customer care so many times and then sent a mail to the nodal officer about the printer....
So be careful with these people...they will frustrate you like hell....
The only ADVANTAGESwith this connection are
1) The connection is very much STABLE duringDAY times..... I get a download speed around65KBps = 520Kbps.... which is almost DOUBLE the speed for which I have subscribed i.e,256Kbps...WOW..isnt it.....so if you are somone who browses mostly in day time...Its really worth takin this connection....
2)They are providing Static IP or Dynamic IP....Static IP is a little costly if you want in general...but these guys are providing you for free....we can use StaticIP if we want to run some servers on our computers or for remote access of your computer...
Dynamic IP is useful if you are someone who download so many things frm Hosting sites like Rapidshare.com, megaupload, ....etc etc....because after you download some file you can renew the IP address so that you can download without waiting time...
DISADVANTAGES:
1)If you are one who surfs more during night time....this is really a nightmare.....
2)Online transactions are going to be really affected....
3)Technicians are not well trained..is what I feel...they come home after the complaint and repeat the same steps which we do....
4)If there is a power cut you get disconnected...and reconnecting after that takes around10Mins....
But in an other area...where my friend took the connection...it was gud and there was no disconnection at any time but....the speed was very low...around 150Kbps..... for a 256Kbps connection....
5)The login session expires very soon...because of which you get disconnected....we need to check for it and keep logging in....
So people if you want to take this connection pls follow some simple steps...
After you ask for connection those people come to check the signal strength... they say strength > 16
is sufficient but strength >20 is what you need ideally for no disconnection....
Antenna should be placed as high as possible....so that no trees or buildings block the signal.....
Antenna should be inclined in a proper direction and the direction should not be changed....
At any case if you have a disconnection you can right click on the LAN connectivity icon and click repair.... so that connection is renewed....
Or else you can log into router page...and restart it...(Steps will be told by them at the beginning...)...
About others...AIRTEL and Reliance are also gud...but the speed is always less than what they have subscribed....
So if you want gud speed(in day time.... :P)...u can go for this....
