Tata indicom wimax is overpriced, underserviced(unserviced) and unethical. Dont believe? read my story
I got a tata indicom connection wimax connection at my apartment in cochin after virtually hounding their office for a normal broadband connection for 2 years.
My requests for a normal connection was turned down apparently because they could not add another router and amplifier to the line. However my suspicion was that they were trying to shove the wimax bullshit down the customers' throats.
So when they asked if I needed wimax, I said what the hell, install it.
Initially the experience was good, but I still say it was hugely overpriced, I got an unlimited 768kbps connection for 1750 rs per month.
Everytime I started my computer I would have to wait like 5-10 minutes to get logged in to the internet, since my internet was on 24*7, this wasnt much of a problem.
The trouble started when once for 2 days I couldnt log in, I called up the customer service centre to hear a truckload of drivel from an irritated and irritating executive on what is a computer and what is an internet and related nonsense. Before I could finally log my complaint the phone would get cut off. And then I had to repeat the process again 3 times.
Finally the next day, someone from the cochin office calls me and asks me what the problem is, and he asks "do I have to come there sir? "!? After some pleading, threats and screaming, someone does come in and solve the problem.
Then there were the pestering payment reminder calls, no matter the fact that I pay my bills online before the due date, some lady called and reminded me every month in a condescending tone. And the payment portal is the worst ever, of the 50 odd times I tried to pay the bill, the transaction was completed only 30 odd times. And once I couldnt pay the bill on time because of the portal, the connection was cut promptly without any notice
Again after storming into their town office(15 kilometres away) and desk-banging and bill-paying, my connection was up after 48 hrs.
Two months later, the real problems started. The net wouldn't simply work, I called up the customer care for 2 weeks, no action was taken. I called the office, went to the office, almost kidnapped the technician, still my problem wasn't solved. I called the nodal manager who wouldn't pick up the phone. Frustrated, internet deprived and angry, I marched into their office for the last time and asked them to cut my connection. They made me wait 30 minutes to finish the process after which I gave my feedback to an unresponsive idiot who listened to me patiently, but did not understand and did not care. However he tried to persuade me to take a connection in thrissur. I would recommend tata indicom to give him the "most irritating salesman of the year" award.
It did not end there, two months later, I got a bill for 400 rs which I promptly flushed in the toilet. Then the tata indicom wallahs constantly pestered me to get the wimax device and the Poe box back. They took the wimax device without my permission(as if I care) but just for getting back at them I did not give the poe box back and dismantled it. And I got about 4 calls asking for my feedback, finally I had to ask them if they love me so much as to call me so often and that I was interested in a relationship.
Please do not take tata indicom wimax, and if you call their customer service, please do not hold back from abusing them. And if you know any of the cochin tata indicom wimax executives, please ask them to stay away from me for their own health.
