The torture began when I called the TATA Indicom Photon plus guys for a demo. I never knew that I would be trapped such a way. Let me point out how the torture went on –
The representative who came to my home to show a demo of the product (TATA Indicom Photon Plus) had very little knowledge about Internet and network. In Southern part of India (KA, AP. TN and KL) we have a language problem. Most of the localities don’t seem to know the national language that well. So, it creates a major communication gap between the people from Hindi belt and locals.
In cities like Bangalore the problem emerges terribly because almost a quarter of Bangalore speaks Hindi or English and don't know local language. The demonstrator was one of those locals who struggle with Hindi or English. The result was I understood what he did not want me to understand. The technicians and the demonstrator both promised a high speed connection (2 Gb/s). I used to get 1.2 Mb/s some times, but my normal speed was 500 Kb/s sometimes it went below 96Kb/s.
Calling tech support was a daily routine for me. I came to know that 500Kb/s is something that I should expect on an average. When asked – why there is a gap between what I was promised and what I get the answers was not specific. Some even went to an extend of hanging phone. An onsite tech visited my home and came to a conclusion that my OS is corrupt. I cancelled the account on the basis of misguiding me to a product which is not worth paying so much. The account is settled long back. I still get bills and calls to pay the bill. They promised me many times to look into the problem and send me a mail saying “Yes, things are settles now”. No reply as usual.
Please don't go with Photon Plus. It's a waste of money and everything involving it. The best part is – there is no money back. The stupid device is with you even after your connection cancellation and you can’t use it as thumb/pen drive until you insert a memory card in it. All you are left out with is a junk.
