I was fed up with MTNL's pathetic service, and general apathy towards its customers. Hence I decided to ditch the company altogether, and started searching for an alternative. The ones considered were
Airtel - No connection in my area of residence (Borivali West)
Reliance - Shady salesperson. I would hate to believe anyone who appears no more than a matriculate pass, and who has no idea about internet connection setup.
And finally I stumbled on Tata Photon+, a ~2Mbps USB based broadband connection service. Later I also learnt about Reliance having a similar service, however, I stuck with Tata Photon+ as they moved first on my enquiry. I have been using this service for the last 3 months, and I must say, the connection is very very stable. I am able to work-from-home for a good 10 hours without being disconnected. I could never imagine doing this on my wired MTNL connection.
Surf speed is consistent, and now I've also managed to purchase a Tenda "N" wireless router which supports Tata Photon+. Two laptops, a PS3 and a wifi-phone are able to happily co-exist with this service. I could not have asked for more.
