Tata Indicom... The worst a company can get ?

My experience with Tata indicom is positively the worst with any company ever. I think they do not know anything about running a phone company whatsoever.


I purchased 3 Tata WLL land line phones. The idea was that they were offering CUG (close user group) scheme, where by one has to pay Rs. 50 per number and then all calls between those numbers are not charged.


First indication that the company is crazy happened before the phones actually came in. Almost 5 times someone came for verification, and each time they didn?t know that some one had come earlier and verified.


After 2 or 3 verifications, we started calling their call center and asking them why this was taking so long (over a month has passed.) They did not know and kept saying that they could only proceed after verification was complete.


We got furious after having explained several times that the verification must be complete because someone had come for the nth time to verify the address, however they kept acting line novices. When we asked if there was any higher up we could talk with, it would only lead us one level up to the supervisor and not beyond. For any one higher than the supervisor, you had to FAX them and they might get back to you.


Anyways, we finally lost our cool and told them that they should return our deposit since we do not want their service.


We finally got the 3 phones after all this nuisance and almost 2 months after application.


The Saga continues?.


One month after the activation, we got a bill for 1 phone for Rs. 1900+. We immediately paid up, without really scrutinizing the same. However when the bills for the other phones arrived, we realized that they had not applied the CUG scheme to the numbers and therefore all calls within the 3 phones were also being charged to us. We therefore called up call center and asked them. They said they would send us the itemized bills.


Itemized bills arrived for 2 of the 3 phones. Sure enough we had been charged for calls within the CUG too. They said they would correct the same and send new bills. We asked them to send the bill for the 3rd phone, to which they said they would charge Rs. 25 !


What the hell ! we told them we were not going to pay a single rupee for something which was so glaringly their mistake. Their response was? ?sorry sir but that?s all we can do?.


Sure enough, we did not pay the bills this time around, and the phones have gotten disconnected (outgoing calls barred.) We called them again, but the fact that they did not even seem to know about previous conversations and commitments shows that they do not have the most basic customer service infrastructure in place.


We are finally totally fed up with their imbecile, immature and pathetic service and customer relations, and have decided to dump their phones? for believe it or not?reliance.


We have still not received any corrected bills, and do not have any hopes of getting them.
