Tata Indicom is the worst service provider I have ever seen in my life.


They boast about the friendly customer care executives who always mislead, give wrong / false information, put the person on hold for a very tiring and irritating long time (this they do to keep the customers away from calling and boring them).


They don't have mobile maintenance service for the handset the provide. they expect the customer to carry the handset to their service station during their timings, who cares if the customer requires to take leave for getting his mobile serviced after all he has paid for the mobile so it is his responsibility. He has full right to repent on the decision he has taken to go for that mobile service provider.


I had some problems of voice breaking during the communication so I had called up their customer service(??) on 166 on 10/Jan/04. they logged the complaint and gave me the complaint number and said the problem would get resolved after 48 hours. After 96 hours since my problem was not addressed to I called them on the same number and I was asked to call 198. From there I was asked to call 56998282. Very reluctantly I called that number only to hear from them that I am supposed to call 166. I was very furious and wrote to the Tata Indicom service and what a pity the email ID which they had mentioned does not work like them and my mails bounced. Just imagine the pains I would have gone through (The problem is still not resolved as on 19th Jan).


We try to drag on with these sort of irresponsible attitude of these people because we don't have extra time to spend with the consumer Courts and these people then take undue advantage of this.


How can a company afford to lose the customers faith in such an era when the competitors are hell-bent on to get the customers on their side by hook or crook.

Tata Indicom has changed its service towards better. The clarity and the reception has improved. Though the service response on phone is very slow (You need to hold on for a very long time), still they manage to solve the problem. One thing they should improve upon is the picking up of the phone when called for service and adherence to the billing timeliness.


They have improved mainly because of the increase in the customers and thereby increased revenue in the infrastructure.


They still have to go a long way to go by sticking to the cost effective solutions and roaming facility and downloading of the ring tones.

The coverage is phenomenal. just cannot believe it. Works in lifts, Subways, Pubs everywhere where GSM mobiles fail to reach. But again service is same bad. Another unusual thing which I noticed is breaking of a call for no specific reason. You just get a message "Call Lost". Its now your headache to make a call again and pay more to them.


Billing has improved. Slowly but surely it is improving.


One thing they should think of is exchanging the old mobiles with new improved ones at a competitive rate. We are continuing with the same old mobiles as there is no alternative
