Hello All, Tata released the all awaited Indica V3 or now better known as a Indica Vista on 23rd August. I was already on a look out for a hatchback diesel car between 4.5 - 5.5 lakhs and was already in touch with TATA guys( Sanya Motors, New Delhi) for a Palio Multijet and Indics V2 Dicor( both top end models).
On 24th morning a salesman from Sanya motors called me up and told me about the all new INDICA VISTA that came into there showroom, he convinced me for a test drive and being a Sunday I was there the same afternoon to drive the Vista Quadrajet. First Impression: The car looked really big from outside can be compared to FORD Fusion. Its a completely different platform that VISTA is on. The good news is that finaaly TATA has left the ages old vinatge INDICA looks and chassis aside, its a different and a bigger chassis. I sat on the drivers seat and felt like I am in a INNOVA, its so broad from inside, with enough leg-room both in rear and front.
The engine start was so silky smooth, thanks to the FIATs QUADRAJET 1.3l engine, the ignition itself left the Swift Diesel way far behind, let not even talk about the Indica DICOR here. Finally I put the car in gears and ride quality so smooth, it took all potholes and bad Delhi rainy roads as if the road was just consructed a week ago.
The gear ratios are well balanced for a smooth city drive in a 3rd gear you can easily move the car between 25kmph and 70kmph, such is the torque. Its better then the SWIFT diesel, forget about the Indica DICOR. Overall, I test drove it on conhested Delhi roads so cant talk much about speed. The brakes felt really good. AC was again really very effective. AURA top model comes with built in DOUBLE DIN music system with 2 speakers with a above average sound quality. Interiors were really very good, good quality of plastic used by TATA, can be compared to HONDA CITY GXi. Hats off! Great instrument cluster, it even shows the air temp.
inside the car. Forgot to mention a very important point, it Italian engine is accompanied with an Italian gear box( FIATs) which makes gear shifting really very smooth as generally most of Diesel hatches have home made gear boxes. In one word Indica Vista AURA is " GREAT "
