Update after 78000 kms:

---------------------------------

Still going strong.. am confident of taking it on any emergency because I trust its reliability. Very economical. No mechanical issues till now as I service it every 5k kms. Though I own a corrolla now, I still in love with my indy and is the day to day car.. and plan to use it so for a looong time to come!.. the spares are dead cheap and u can get service at every nook and corner...

An Update after 45, 000 kms:

=================

I have completed 45, 000 kilometers in 4.5 years in my Indica DLS non-turbo. I found my car as: Reliable, having good steability at high speeds and have extremely low maintanance costs. It got good leg space and have adequate acceleration and can be driven 110kms/hour on highways comfortably. I have driven my car from bangalore to trivandrum and back on many occassions(a total of 1650+ kms). Recently on an early morning trip, I took my Indy a Trivandrum to Thrissur Solo which it could complete in around 5 hours on each directions(310 kms on each way). It is Butter-Smooth above 70Kms/hour on 5th gear on right roads and just love to take it for such long drives. It has a fuel consumption of 21 kms/litre of diesel on highways

Little more on Maintanance: Only trouble it gave me so far is, once the AC got failed and the container had to be welded, costing me 800-900 rupees. Apart from that absolutely no issues so far. May be it is because I take it for service every  5000 kms, only at Tata Authorized service centres.

Update after 30, 000 kms:

===============

Nice going and no mechanical issues so far. Never let me down in any emergencies. Need servicing every 5000 kms to keep it tiptop.

Hi Here is the Update after 24, 000 Kms:

===========================

My indica v2 completed 24k now. The last drive was from bangalore to trivandrum(kerala), and back to Trissur(kerala), a total of 1483 Kms!

It was a Solo Drive for the most part, and let me tell you I enjoyed every bit of it.

Unforgettable was the drive from Hosur to Coimbatore, around 350+ Kms, on Expressway. My indi clocked 110+ many times and I covered it in less than 5 hours.

I had filled Nitrogen in tires for Safety at high speeds.(No bursting of tires due to expansion of air/moisture and less checks).

One Issue I am facing now is my A/C got failed just before I started my drive due to the compressor failure. It needs around 8k to fix, and hopefully would be covered under insurance.

Apart from that not even a small hitch so far. It never failed me.

Regards,

Sandeep Ramadas.

Hi An Update After 16, 000 kms:

==========================

I just love my indica!. It never failed me, there was not even one break-down!

I am getting around 19km/litre in the bangalore city.

I am getting excellent service from Prerana motors(am going regularly to the Old Madras Road prerana). For small problem checkup etc, you need to pay nothing. Decent too, no pilferage etc.

Needed a potentiometer calibration around 15, 000 kms, which was done free, no ther defects detected. Done three serivices exactly around every 5000 kms.

No wonder there is so many indica cabs around :)

regards,

/S

Hi,

I brought my Diesel, Non-turbo indica V2 DLS in December 2006. In just about a month's time, I have completed 2500 kms on my indica, that includes the long drive of 1900+ kms on christmas vacation.

Pros...

  1. The number one thing I like about my car is its mileage :).I got a whopping 24 kms/litre in highways(80% of the run without AC on ...normally fills only from Reliance or Shell outlets).

  2. Nice steering wheel steability at high speeds.

  3. Adequate AC.

  4. Nice "self" mechanism. I mean, on bad road condition, just put it in First/Second gear. And the car carries on around the gutturs without any accelarator pushing. The inbuilt microprocessor takes care of varying loads with ease.

  5. I feel non-turbo is sufficient for city-traffic. A smaller diameter tyres as in non-turbo(13"), compared with turbo(14") can give you better mileage in city traffic.

  6. Good Ground-Clearance. The car went through worst humps and roads(It managed the horrific sarjapur road from Silkboard, for instance).

  7. Enough leg-room for the entire family. Aso, the rear split-seats when folded creates enough room to fit small tables, chairs etc.

Cons...

  1. Higher cabin noise.

  2. Gears can be even smoother.

  3. Needs some judgement while navigating tight city traffic(visibility is less compared to say..Wagon R).
