Hi All,
I bought Xeta GLG on 6th June ( Lagoon Blue )and was very impatient to write my experience here .......When I was pondering to get a new car for myself there were many aspects I was looking for within the range 3-3.5 lakhs.I got Xeta GLG at 3.36 Lakh ; on road price.
I was looking for the following in my car:
Should have enough space to accommodate 5 people comfortably.
Engine should be powerful.
3.Effective A.C
4.Safe
5.Easy manouverability with the minimum of effort
6.Decent Mileage.
Well within this price range the options I had were Alto, Santro,WagonR and Zen( They were giving huge discounts on Zen that time).
I already have an Alto so I knew I could not have bought Alto as it is very cramped . Also you Alto is not powerful at allespecially if you have the A.C. ; though the A.C. is impressive.
I haappened to sit in Wagon R which has enough of head space but not enough leg space ; also I did not like its look.
For Santro what I inferred was it was less value for money..., as the accessories and the standard equipments I was looking for would have costed me more; but I came to learn this only when I compared it with Xeta.
Zen was to be phased out and also Zen did not appealed to me so I zeroed to Indica.
Well to be frank I had certain reservations for its mileage but I confirmed this with other Xeta users and they said that they were getting a mileage of 13-15kmpl and that was not bad for me.
I never felt that I was driving a smal car ...its really a BIG smal car ..u feel like u r driving a big car.
As for the space is concerned its very spaciuos and its very comfortable.The pick up is good.
I am impressed a lot by its power steering --effortless drive.You get this feeling that you are safe which I never got in any one of the above mentioned cars.
The interiors are good but even then I feel the quaity of plastics could have been improved.
Well there is one thing that irritates me about the new Tata cars- on to the drivers side you do not have the reverse gear light ....they say thats a provisioned space for back fog lamp.....? whatever.....
The vehicle is practically noiseless.....n I bet u wud not be able to make whether the engine is running or not ....its soooooooooooooo QUIET.
and now the most important aspect of Tatas petrol vehicles` ;;;;;;the mileage.
My car has not done much.....its just completed 675 kms and it has never been on long drive
Till about 500 kms Xeta was giving me an avg. of 7.5kmpl to 9 kmpl in city with varied use of A.C. as and when reqd.
But no sooner did it clocked 500 kms its avg. improved remarkably.........its now giving an avg of approx 12kmpl .....to be precise 11.67 kmpl.
I had visited the service station for the low avg...and there I was told that the cars avg. will improve after first 500 kms then after 1000kms and wil get stable after first servicing and I can expect to get an avg of 16 kmpl.....i doubt that ....but even then I am sure I will get an avg of 14kmpl (A.C.)after first servicing and I am happy about that.
Overall I feel I got the best deal and I am very happy with my XETA ...my BIG small car
P.S. You also have the feature of Rear Demister which was not available with other cars
