I bought Indica Xeta GLS in Dec 2006. I had little time to drive the car so I decided to go for a petrol run car. Sincerely telling first casualty was my fornt left tyre. My car slightly got contact with a stone and the tyre had a side cut not to be further used.  I thought the car has to be driven with little care. By this time my car had run merely 800 kms till Jan 07 and I replaced the tyre by paying Rs. 2500. Next casualty was the rear left tyre. I was driving the car in Apr 07 in Delhi in Rohini area my rear left tyre got a puncture. By the time I realised the puncture the car would have run some 50 mtrs.

I was surprised to know that the mechanic told me that tyre has been ruptured. I approached the TATA they tossed matter to Apollo tyres which Apollo   tyres tactfully befooled me and I ended up paying another Rs.2500. So went the story ahead within a year the vehicle ran about 12000 km and I had to replace all 05 tyres paying almost 13000 rupees. Now regarding performance if you switch on AC it immediately converts into big TRUCK. Regarding mileage. I cosider the mileage much depends on driving skills and I had no complain with mileage. It convenietly delivered 14 with AC in Delhi and 17 on Highways.  Although not much complain on engine performance.

Another big worry with TATA vehicles is weak exteriors even little scratch on the vehicle would cause a big dent and Service Center would ask anything greater than Rs. 5000/-.  Summing up my sincere advice is  after all the vehicle has to run on tyres and the TATAs have such a poor and cheap engineering that they put such small tyres on Xeta which has not only made it completely unreliable but it may take the life of occupants in case the owner fails to check the condition of tyre which Xeta keeps eating without a break.  No remedy once you buy Xeta if you think to upgrade tyre on your own and bear a burden of another 18000 rupees what you are going to do to the weak body wares, I am going to change it very soon. I give some suggestions for selecting a vehicle.

Swift VDI could be considered since it has bigger tyre size and excellent mileage record of 20+, almost robust body wares, powerful 1248 cc DDIs engine. I have been driving Maruti Gypsy for last 10 years and  I found it to be the robust vehicle.  From mileage point of view remains little dearer.

Comments welcome. Excuse if any one having liked Xeta got hurt of my genuine review.
