After almost one year of driving the XETA, I think its time for me to share my experience of owning a XETA. I bought the XETA GLX SALSA RED(1.4l) in Nov 2006. I did a thorough R&D before buying my first car. It included reading the comments posted in MS. I did a test drive of almost all the cars in this segment. Finally I chose this car because of the following reasons:
Space - I am 6 feet and my wife is 5.7. This is the only car, where we both felt comfortable when we both sat together. In the remaining cars, we felt like sitting almost shoulder to shoulder with no space in between.
Price: The high end version costs the same as the starter version of the other cars.
Dealer satisfaction: I know most of you will not agree. However, I found my dealer (B.U. Bhandari, bund garden road, Pune) to be very very good when compared to the dealers of other cars. They explained each and every feature of the car in detail. At the Hyundai (Sanjay) showroom, I felt as if they are least interested in selling their cars.
Till now, I didn't have any major problem. I just had one case where the check Engine lamp glowed. I took the car immediately to the service station (B.U. Bhandari, wakdewadi, Pune). They immediately figured out the reason. I just had to change a cable, which took around 2 hrs. Cost Rs. 150.
I didn't check the mileage of my car during the first five months. I got my first free service done as recommended. Currently I am getting around 12 - 13KMPL in the city conditions with 50-60% AC on. I haven't checked on highway condition.
My recommendation to the future car buyers.
Never go by what anyone says. One car can never be a solution for all. The requirement of each individual is different. List down your requrement and then look out in the market what suits you.
Be optimistic after you buy your car.
Respect your car; your car will respect you in return.
I am quite happy with my car. All the features listed in the manual are functioning as it should. I will be happy to share any further details if requested.
Hapy and safe driving to my XETA mates.
