My first review on the Indica V2 was in the beginning of this year - Feb 2002!! At that point in time it was the rush of owning a truly Indian car that fueled the passion for that review.
But now close to a year of ownership the feeling still quite hasn't changed & this in spite of some moments with the vehicle & the much desired service standards at the dealer outlets. For the benefit of the readers of this review, will list down a few of these misadventures with the vehicle & the service failures -
a) Accident within the first 3 - 4 months resulted in having to change the door. The dealer (M/s United Motors) took close to 10 days to replace the door & still managed to do a shoddy job. Then the nightmare begins after I collect the vehicle.
b) M/s United Motors damages my petrol tank while driving the car on to the service ramp & then denies the entire incident and assigns the blame to me. It takes another week to replace the tank!! Yes, I did not pay them & took the matter up with TELCO this after receiving threatening calls from the dealer. Anyways that issue has been resolved by TELCO thankfully.
c) Alternator pack-ups within 10 months of ownership - under warranty so repaired free of charge - this can happen with any car (Electrical failures are a way of life) after all LUCAS was the supplier.
If it weren't for the lousy incident with M/s United Motors the experience with the car has been wonderful. The car has done its 15,000 kms with no troubles whatsoever - No failures with regard to engine, good fuel efficiency (In city 9.5 - 10 kms/ltr & Pune Expressway 13 - 13.5 kms/ltr with A/c) and no problems with the mechanics of the vehicle.
The car still brings me to a smile everytime I drive it - what amazes me is that we i.e. TELCO & us Indians truly have developed something that deserves to be applauded!!
P.S. You can say I am terribly biased but then can't help the nationalistic feelings coming to fore!! Cheers!!
