Hi All,

I saw some reviews about the Tata Indica Diesel on this site and thought would put my 2 cents also to help others.

To begin with I disagree with everyone who say that this is not a good car.

This is certainly a great car in the small car segment and especially the Diesel make. I have always been a fan of Diesel Cars and own an Indica DLE - Euro II (a mint white color). This was purchased back in 2000 and is still going strong after doing 67,000 km.

The car suits Indian roads perfectly and is the most spacious car in this segment. I stay in Hyderabad, have driven this to lot of tourist places in and around Hyderabad and different parts of Andhra Pradesh. It has been driven on good, bad and hilly terrain and it does a good job. There have been no major problems at all, I had a problem with the choking of the exhaust after it had done about 40,000km, this was rectified by cleaning the exhaust, a similar problem occured at 55,000km and was rectified by cleaning the entire exhaust manifold assembly. Believe me, other than this, there have been no major problems. The serivce done at 60,000km is expensive as lot of things are inspected and changed. The battery life was good and was changed at 50,000km. The service network is excellent I have visited Mahavir Motors (Hyd) initiallty for service and then switched to Concorde Motors (Hyd), both of them do an excellent job.

As is with diesel cars the pickup is not as good as a petrol car but that is expected (we are not on a F1 track...). The pickup with A/C is sluggish but that's OK. Once running the vehicle is very stable, but a little bit noisy. I have done a max of 110 kmph and believe me it feels great and was very stable. The breaking can be improved. The interiors are OK, can be made better, I have seen the new indica v2 and the interiors are better.

Milage: 16 - 18 (without A/C), 15 - 17 (with A/C) in city

19 - 21 (without A/C), 18 - 20 (with A/C) on highway

In summary it is a great car. Take the car for its regular timely service and the car will be fine. You need to take care of your car like a child and it will deliver its good. Hope this review helps people in making a choice.

Thanks,

Sreenivas.
