I personally had the misfortune of purchasing this product along with a postpaid connection. As per their advertisement I was supposed to get "upto" 9.8 Mbps speed till I exhaust 3GB of usage(according to my rental plan) and upto 153.6 Kbps thereafter.
After I started using it, I found it to be extremely slow. I contacted their customer care and after some basic trouble shooting steps(which included deleting temp and prefetch files) asked me to check my internet speed. The speed showed 72.4 KBPS which he interpreted as 580 Kbps and to my surprise said that the speed is OK. I was shocked and said that I was of the notion that I will get much more speed than this. Even 1/3 of the advertised speed would have been around 3Mbps. He said that For Tata Photon Max WiFi a connection speed of 62.5 KBPS(500 Kbps) is taken as having sufficient speed.
I was dumbfounded and I asked the customer care executive that whether I can return the device for a refund but he said that there is no provision for that. So now I am stuck with a useless device and a useless postpaid plan for at least three months. Please think twice before you buy this piece of junk.
