I fell for the 3G hype and went for a Tata Docomo 3G data card. While I have experienced peak speeds of upto 1.5 Mbps (during off-peak hours), during peak hours the speed is pathetic (less than 250 kbps) with frequent drops. I think these companies are simply taking people for a ride in the name of 3G. BSNL 3G is much better compared to Tata Docomo. But overall, the 3G experience is pathetic - frequent drops, no connectivity during peak hours and high latency (if you click on a link, it takes around 2-3 secs for the page to start loading).
I have Reliance Broadband+ too and I must say, it is far superior to 3G. Even though the speed at peak hours is around 300-400 Kbps, there are no drops, speed is consistent and latency is very low. Not like 3G where one moment the speed is 1 Mbps and the next moment it's 100 Kbps. While all are craps, if I were to get stranded on an island and choose between the 3, I would choose Reliance.
