Aditya chopra back once again with his production venture and Siddarth Anand yet again using his directorial skills after the run away success of his debt movie, Salaam Namaste. Well here is a movie that guarantees you a bit of Masti, a bit of sentiments and loads of entertainment in a Bollywood style.
Well as many reviews guessed it precisely, the story of the movie is inspired from two Hollywood movies. The first one is a movie acted by the two Oscar Winner actors, Russell Crowe-Renee Zellweger, titled the Cinderella Man, story about James Braddock, a famous boxer who loses his fame, money and goes out-of-luck by early 1930's. A story of a Boxer who struggles hard and fights against his depression for the family he loves the most. The second one is the Oscar winning movie for best direction and acting, Life is Beautiful, where Robert Benigni hides the dire truth from his kid by transforming their imprisonment at the Nazi Concentration camp into a Game where the winner would get a real tank, thus making his imagination as buoyancy for his only kid.
This is the story of RV(Saif ali Khan), a tyre changer in a pit crew who accidentally acquaints with Javed Jaffrey who gives RV his first break as a race car driver in Speeding Saddles team. RV turns to be the king of the circuit winning all the trophies, thus turning from a pit crew member to the best Sports Car driver in the world. Through his success he meets Shona(Rani Mukerjee), the daughter of an acclaimed Software Industrialist and marries him against the volition of her father. Soon they will have two kids Champ and Princesses, together who form the fairly tale family of RV.
But luck betrays him as he meets with a dreaded accident on the circuit(Blame it to his Machiavellian opponent, Rusty Finkelstein) post which he takes a year to recover only to find that the accident had indwelled in him the Racing Phobia. He loses his Job; he struggles every day as his financial condition starts getting decrepitated. He loses everything and the stiff reality of poverty becomes his fate. He now wears the shoes of Robert Benigni and pulls over the curtain to his poverty from his kids, by transforming their situation into a reality game show called "Don't worry, be happy". As luck gets more obdurate on him his son gets admitted to hospital and doctors give him 2 days to arrange for a huge sum of money to save their son.
What would RV do? Will he race again? Will it be possible for him to overcome his phobia? Who would help RV? Will he again be the "World's Best husband, Best Papa and Best Driver"? Has a bit clichéd story line, a typical bollywood saga. But what makes this movie palatable is its experiment on getting a race circuit and the life behind it on Bollywood screen for the first time. Also the most sidelined actor of Bollywood, Javed Jaffrey proves his acting skills yet again and fills the movie with bliss and humor. Also some great Music there by Vishal-Shekar. All to all this is one movie that guarantees you to keep entertained for 3 hours, well cooked in the typical Bollywood ish style with some new spices added to the cuisine. So just don't think too much, Go Watch it………
