Our life is nothing but a journey from one point to other. In this short journey we make our dreams. We fix our targets and values. We follow our intuitions. Decide the course of action. Success boosts our enthusiasm to move forward in our life and there is no great motivator than success. Success and failure are sides of a coin but each success can be turn to a failure and any failure can be turned to a stepping stone for future success. In a way it is correct to say that our success and failures are decided by our mind. Our approaches to the results of our action actually decide whether we actually succeeded or not.
What makes success valuable?The motivation and the hard work we inject into action decide our fate. Without hard work success is not possible. Without obstacles success can not give you joy. Life is so kind to bless us all with lot of plus points. We all possess a lot of good qualities where we can win in one form or other. However, life made the play of life interesting by placing different obstacles in unimaginable places to improve our hardship and thereby our joy in success after failure.
Aditya Chopra's Ta Ra Rum Pum is telling such a story. As the web site put it, "This is the story of one man, his family and how they overcome the obstacles that life puts in their way, together. It is the story of human spirit and how it ultimately prevails." Rajveer Singh (Saif Ali Khan) is a famous racer with a beautiful and intelligent wife Radhika (Rani Mukharji) and two sweet children Priya & Ranveer (Angelina Idnani & Ali Haji). Rajveer was working as wheel changer for racing cars. He got an absolutely brilliant driving skill and when Rajveer's talent came into the attention of Harry (Javed Jafari), who was carrying a dream to become part of a champion team but his dreams shattered and ended up in riding Taxi. Harry used his contacts to get Rajveer the much needed start. Inevitably, Rajveer succeeded. It is on the same situation that Rajveer found his love and now she is his wife- Radhika. A very good pianoist. She is a daughter of a billion dollar businessman. What fun if there is no obstacle in love story? Radhika's father objects his daughters hand to the number one race car driver. Radhika opted for Rajveer. Everything was going smoothly. The children are studying and the family is in happy mood. What other good time is there to hit tragedies? Tragedies hit time again and then starts the struggeles…Ta Ra Rum Pum tell the story of Rajveer & Radhika's struggle to guide their life to the shore of success.
Yash Raj is the number one banner which possesses a huge fan following their films. Their films are widely known for giving big hits to bollywood. Feel good factor is the other major advantage Yash Raj films possess. Nice locations, good music, excellent frames and fine performance are some of face values YR banner hold. Did Yash Raj banner succeeded in keeping the same values? I have to say I am not fully satisfied. TRRP is a good film, but not that excellent film as one expect from Yash Raj banner. That is for the beginning.
Sidharth Anand succeeded in getting some best performance out of Saif, Rani, Javed and the two little ones. Sidharth also impressively presented the breath taking racing scenes. Then why the movie didn't click in a big way? The film didn't fully succeed in one department, script. It is all there…but situations are not correctly connected. If the same script has received to a master writer, with a few adjustments here and there the story could have been presented more meaningfully and with a force.The problem lies where the action is not supported with a value. Also the selection of main villain (the situation) is another set back. One wonder how a hero can beat a much stronger villain in simplest manner and all at a sudden succumbed to quite an ordinary villain and struggle without getting light. Sidharth failed to give a fine touch to his characters to request a permanent place in audience mind. The story however holds your interest because of the speed, twist and turns in the story and occasional visit of the villain.We only can wish that the audience may over see those missing fine points.
Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukharji deliver fine performances. It is really nice to see Javed Jafari in the frame and all the frames where he is involved he is simply excellent, though he was asked to do little. Angelina idnani & Ali Haji impress with their pleasant appearance. Other cast have very little to do and they have done their part adequately.
Music is impressive, though not extra ordinary. Ta Ra Rum Pum, Saaiyaan & Hey Shona are the best in the lot.
Choreography of the song Ta Ra Rum Pum is extra brilliant. With good colors, animations and impressive presentation…it is a welcome change. One can simply love to see the song in big screen. Picturisation of other songs are not up to YR mark.
Shooting in USA is a privilege and it holds opportunity to give fantastic frames to the scenes. However Sunil Patel's cinematography is not that impressive. Few scenes are shot well however many opportunities are missed out. Editing could have been better.
Overall, Rajveer, Radhika & Co entertains us in more than one way. Few of the scenes can take your breath for quite some time. Some songs will impress you. You will like the family of Rajveer. You feel for the Champ who fast along with Priya and request for a single piece of cake. You will become part of the gallery of the car race.
The general report is…ok film, good film, average film to average plus film. I can recommend this film to you, if you are a person going to watch a film once in a month.
