There are movies and there are movies and then there are ones which make u practically live and feel the experience along with it.This is one among those.

TZP starts off the credits with a nice and sweet animated theme which gives just a glimpse of what is to be expected ahead.TZP is about a simple middle class urban family with 2 kids. The elder one Yuhan is a straight-A student who is good at tennis too and does things just the way any mother(in this case Tisca Chopra) would wish for.

And then there is the younger kid, Ishaant(Darsheel) who is quite the opposite of this elder brother. We see him getting bullied by other kids on the block, he is no good at studies too. He goofs up all the time and keeps on  getting punished for most of his deeds. But he ain't dumb, he has a sharp mind and a wild imagination. Khan even takes a leaf from Calvin &  Hobbes and gives ishaant his own version of Spaceman Spiff(Captian Ishaant) who comes in when he digresses in between maths test while being unable to multiply 3x9.

As ishant keeps on getting himself into trouble time and again, also failing to satisfy the exceptions of his parents and also the grades, His parents decide to put him up in boarding school so that he would learn the hard way.And as he tries hard to keep up with his peers due his inability to perceive words as they are he comes across a young art teacher(Aamir Khan) who sees more clearly than others. He identifies ishant's weakness and makes up his mind to help him get over dyslexia.

Ok, so you might be thinking the overall premise doesn't seem anything different or extra-ordinary right? But this is where Aamir got it right, he avoids all the cliches and stereotypes. He has directed this film beautifully and intelligently.(i am not quite sure, how much credit should go to amol gupte  who has written a great script). From the beginning he has treated things in his own way;the right way that is. Just following ishant's daily rituals you feel like you have visited one day from your own childhood. Right from the way he wakes up to the way he gets shouted at by his teachers or the way he reacts to his dad's scolding, everything is absolutely genuine. At times you don't even feel that a camera is following him.I can bet you can identify yourself with him or the others kids that have been shown in this movie.

The humor runs throughout the movie, it's not slapstick humor, the one you will find in david dhawan's movies. It's humor is like life itself, it make you smile at those little things that you used to do in your childhood.

On the acting front Darsheel steals the show all the way.He is the heart and soul of the movie and rightly gets his due at top of the credits. You just have to watch his expressions all through. He is truly brilliant. Aamir is naturally at his best.He does everything just right. Special credit should go the casting team, they have selected such fine actors for this movie, there are no big names(except aamir, ofcourse) but everyone has played his part perfectly be it the loving mother, Tisca or the stern and strict father(i don't the guy's name) or even more so his elder brother who always supports him unlike the kinda shady characters we see in typical hindi movie.

Personally, i have truly enjoyed a movie after a long time, I was toally engrossed in the movie especially in the first half, discussing those things that we also used to do in school.Maybe the second half could have been a tad better, I felt aamir didn't give Darsheel much footage(read;dialogues) in the second half, but I am not complaining. And also this movie was not the preachy types also, infact in was educating to the right extent. All the research has been well done by Amol Gupte. This one is definitely for the ones who like sublime and realistic cinema.
