No praises are enough for Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. This unique serial on SAB TV has simply taken my heart away with its simple yet powerful presentation. The fact that it is on-air since July 2008 till date, speaks for its popularity. Now, this popular TV program mainly covers social issues with a touch of pure humor. At the same time, it deals with the daily activities of the society members, and celebrates the spirit of life in the best possible manner.
The Best Thing
Mumbai’s Gokuldham Co-Operative Housing Society is the place where all the main characters of this television serial live happily. Now, this housing society portrays a perfect example of unity amidst diversity. This is because here you will come across people from various cultural backgrounds and religions living in complete harmony. The fact that all members of this society love each other and come to each other’s help whenever a problem takes place, is truly by all means a unique phenomenon in today’s world. This is what I like the most about this TV serial.
I also like the way the society members celebrate festivals such as Diwali, Id, Janmashtami, Ganesh Chaturthi, Christmas, etc. with childlike enthusiasm and fervor. The New Year celebrations at Gokuldham also stay pretty grand and exuberant. Overall, this is one serial which is completely unique, and hence, cannot be compared with any other television programs of its kind.
The Cast
The acting skills of all the characters in this sitcom are simply outstanding! In this context, the character of Jethalal Champaklal Gada played by Dilip Joshi and the character of his wife Daya Jethalal Gada played by Disha Vakani deserve a special mention. Their unusual mannerism and comic timing goes well beyond the regular standards, and hence, cannot be described in words. All I can say, the presence of Jethalal and Daya in the program keeps me completely glued in front of the television set. It’s also an absolute delight to watch the mischievous Tappu Sena(the young members of the society) in action.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has become so popular that several Bollywood stars have made it a platform for the promotion of their upcoming movies. Recently, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol visited the sets of this serial for the promotion of their film “Dilwale”. Some other renowned actors who have visited the sets include Kareena Kapoor Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha, Ajay Devgan, Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, Salman Khan, and Varun Dhawan.

Finally, the news is that very soon the serial will reach the amazing landmark of completing 2000 episodes.
