I have purchased this bike recently two months back in PuneI have been driving Kinetic from 5 years and want to move to Bikes so I thought about it100 cc bikes were not preferred by me because it lacks power and not enough for load of two people. 150 cc bikes are premium category bikes which lacks mileage so definately not my choice so I decided to go for 125 cc bikes because it has combination power of premium bikes and mileage almost near to 100 cc bikes.
I took test ride of bikes like Discover, Super Splendor and Victor GLX.I found following features
Discover: though 125 CC and 11.5 bhp I cant differentiate between it and Platina(Only headlights are different and ofcourse Stickers).The looks are of 100 cc and its 11.5 bhp I didn't feel it plus The headlight beam quality is very poor for night driving plus I heard lots of complaints regarding mileage(Worst case is 40 to 45 kmpl)
Super Splendor: Good pickup, Though mileage wise it is good but it is very short in height (not good for people near to 6 feet in height), thin rear tyres(2.75 x 18) , Riding was not comfortable ( I need to travel from home to office almost 40 to 50 kms per day plus I like to have some long drives on bikes sometimes)
I follow policy of 'Be Indian Buy Indian' hence Suzuki Zeus and Honda Shine were not my choice
And in TVS Victor GLX I found almost what I want from a 125 cc bike.
It is good for tall persons, Its shock abs are good and power of 10 bhp is fine, Headlight beam is best and its mileage is good plus its looks are strong and sturdy like Fiero F2 hence I decided to go for it(It is not available in Pune but I insisted the showroom to get this bike from the company)Almost 3000 kms covered now , I find it good in terms of mileage(58 - 60 kmpl in city and 70 kmpl on highways at economy mode), power wise it is good for overtaking comfortably but initial pickup is less as compared to other bikes it takes some time to reach upto 30 km/hr after that it is fine.
One problem is that at speeds of 80 it vibrates terribly and it is quite unstable.It is good to ride at speed upto 60 (may be the engine is new and valve adjustment needs to be done)The only drawback is its vibration at high speeds.Overall a good bike in 125 cc category
