Hi Folks, I have this boss since 2003. I bought it when it had run 10K KMS very softly by the 1st owner a 2000 model with cathletic converter. Very well maintained showroom condition piece. I was considered as the luckiest of owning the same with in our mecanic shed friends of 5.

All of us owned this little vampiere. All the others had the 90s models and all of them had their own altrations from the paints to the engine reed and chambers. All of them requested me not to alter any in my dream mechine, even I felt the same except I wanted the roring sounds of the 90s shogun which comes without the cathletic converter. I removed the core of the silencer and fitted with a Max100s core which was experimented once after cleaning the silencer oooooooh it rored even better the 90s guns. I never changed it till date. I was getting a decent mileage of 40 km/lt.

No body believes it except my friends who used to use it for a week or so and return it back to me. We used to track in the ECR, poonamalle high road while we go to get some gadgets and movie CDs in the buzzar. Then came a turning point for me, I had to Join my PG Viscom in SRM Katankulatur 20kms from Tambaram. I live in Mogappair. I was lucky the Bypass road from Maduravoyal to Tambaram was completed and ready to use. 2003-05 daily I travel to my college in my roaring GUN it was 40+40 90 kms an average everyday I can never forget the sounds of ma bike in the highways even now when I close my eyes and just visualize oooooonnnnnn... waw wat a sound wat a beat it used to deliver.

I bunk classes but dont bunk college just to experiance the thrill to ride it.. One of my classmate used to accompany me on the pillion from Maduravayol. After a couple of weeks I checked the mileage reserve to reserve, guys u wont belive I was getting 45 km/lt in the highways. I informed this to my mecanic and he was to surprised. He immediately checked the 2T oil supply tubes the choke, airfilter as well as the carbo and the main jets. He was very well taking care of my bike since mine alone was a showroom condition piece and shogun production was stopped in 2000.

My mecanic also loved my bike very much. On the same day one of my friend owning a RX100 came with a repeated mileage problem which gave him only 25km/lt. The carbo tuning was perfect, orginal airfilter and silencer so finally the mechanic rmoved the rear wheels and was counting the number of sprokets then he pulled out the set of old sprokets and and fittend a smaller sproket to the wheels and assembled. He used the testing can of 100ml petrol and checked the reading in the metere. He started the bike and asked me to sit back to hold the testing can. We rode it till the petrol got over, we drove it for 4.2 Kms and found calculated the mileage and amazingly it was 42 kms a litre, waw all that this RX owners has to do is to check it reserve to reserve to calculate it accurately.

That was the day I learnt on increasing the mile age using different methods. Now wat I did was, changed my existing shogun sprket to Yamaha RX G sprokets which is the smallest rear sprokets I have ever seen in my life. I started ma bike and drove it to the main road. I felt the pick-up of the little beast was absalutely dead. It might take a complete 5 mins not 5 seconds to reach 0-100 it was in that poor state on pick-up. Then we thought of upgrading it to the RX 135 5 speed spracket which is slightly bigger than the G's.

Then found RX 100's rear sprocket was little bigger than the 5 speed's and little smaller than the shogun's. we fitted it immediately and took it to the main road. We found the initial pick-up was normal as other bikes but missed the original shogun's pick-up. we also discovered that thare was a late pick-up coming after 2500 RPM in 1st gear which was equal to the initial pick-up delivered using the original sprokets. We experianced no changes in pick-up till the the RPM came down to 2500 RPM in all the other gears. We immediately installd the testing can and with same 100ml of petrol I drove and the mechanic's assistant was behind. We completed 4kms which we guessed we will do we where shocked when it touched 5kms and still there is a little petrol remaining we maintained a speed of 50-65 and we where shocked as the mileage we achived was more than 50km/lt finally we burnt all the 100ml and the spedo reading was 5.9 kms. That is approximately 55-60 kms/lt wat an experiment it was. Now I wanted to check the top speed as I have achieves a top speed of 120 km/hr in the original sprocket.

The next day I started early to college as per my mecanic's advise I dint cross 80 as the sproket has to get set well. I found a something different in the speedo and RPM calculation well I was driving at 70km and found that the RPM was at 5500 only as well as the sound of my engine was less. Then I understud that the sprocket delivering its best as the ratio of the engines strain and the end power delivery is different now. I reached college smoothly with a lesser sound with higher speed. Now Its time to check to top speed of my gun. It was around 3.30 PM I started my engine my friend accompanied me and he dint know that the daring devil is riding the blood haunt. I wanted the egine to get heated up well so I was driving at a gradual speed between 60-90 which was usual between Katankulathur and Perungalatur.

We reached the channai bypass in 15 mins he enquired me about not stopping in the motel on that day for having tea and a smoke. I asked him to sit close to me without talking. We entered the bypass and it was 70 in the top gear. I pushed the gear leaver to 3rd gear and ripped the throttle it went up to 95 and switched over to the top gear again there was enough heat it pulled immediately to 125 and the streach was wide open I found that there was enough ripping space to lock the throttle and just gave a twist and locked it I found the speedo 130 and was very happy to reach the speed a bike during 2003 itself the throttle is locked and we where travelling in the same speed for next 30 secs or so I found the needle getting up again and reached 135 ooooh it was wind which was tearing our faces and our boss piercing them waw wat an experiance. I drove it at the same speed for next 2 mins and slowed down to 90 it was as tho we where travelling in 60 now. Amazingly my class mate was also enjoing the speeds during this sunny day.

We reached maduravoyal in no minuite and that was the highest speed achived in my stock Shogun which I own it even today. I checked the mileage and surprisingly & happyly I was getting 52km/lt while going to college. I go to office in this even now. I changed the sprockets a couple of times bot not the orginal gun's sprocket its still the RX100's sprockets on my gun. No other alterations to engine. Upgraded the rear shocks to pulsar Nitrox shocks. Its a All black and sexy with original paint and stickers. I am getting a mileage of 40 km/lt in city and 45 km/lt in highways now a days. This is my second bike. Prior to this I was owning a RX 100 1989 model while doing my UG. I will surely write my experiance of my RX soon. Thanks
