When I decided to go for a bike 6 years back, I had to make the difficult choice of choosing between mileage and power. In those days, Hero Honda was the ultimate economy vehicle with poor looks and Yamaha was the macho bike with no mileage.

However to cater to the bike enthusiasts who wanted a mix of both, TVS had its Samurai. That is what I and most of my friends preferred in those days. Samurai had great looks and that great regal sound that was music to bikers' ears. It also performed well on mileage what with consistent 50 kmpl. Yamaha could only give 30 kmpl.

The other aspect was the height of Samurai which was quite literally heads and shoulders above Yamaha. with these great looks and performance, Samurai was a natural choice of thousands of youngsters of my age then.

My new Samurai performed beautifully well on its first all terrain journey from Bangalore to Kemmannagundi and back. It handled hills and valleys with ease on that trip which span about 700 kms in all.

I am so happy with Samurai that even when there are higher powered and higher economy bikes I've not had compelling reason to look for new one. I dare say Samurai is still the best among all bike categories.

Is there someone who can challenge Samurai's superiority?
