I have been driving the Fiero (https://tvsfiero.com) since Jan 2002. I used to drive a Hero Honda Splendor before. And a Bajaj Super scooter before that.
The Fiero eats the Splendor for lunch - unfairly. The 150cc, 12 bhp engine gives raw power at your disposal - that very few bikes I know of can match. The mileage is about 55-60 Kmpl easy, perhaps more if you drive at 40 kmph. But with a Fiero, it is difficult to drive at 40 kmph. The engine effortlessly goes to 55 kmph, before you know it. It goes to a top speed of about 110. The pickup is amazing. The only other bike that I know of - that come close in pickup is the Yamaha 100 Rx (low mileage) and the Bajaj Pulsar 180 cc (never driven it - but seen it zip by).
For around Rs 48000/- on road, I believe this bike provides the loudest bang for your buck. The bike is very dependable. I have been able to start it in one kick after it lay idle for 45 days! The spares are very cheap and so far I have not had to replace anything major. I found the braking system to be a little different. You have to use both brakes for an effective stop. The shock absorbers are wonderful. I can hardly feel the potholes on the road, even after 10 months of riding this bike. A friend of mine borrows my bike for outstation trips. And even he likes it. The firing of a Fiero is very confident, steady and distinct - the way Yamaha Rx 100 would sound in the 80s.
The latest Fiero has a electric start and a new digital ignition that should make it even better.
I have not driven the Bajaj Pulsar 180cc - and also it came out after I bought the Fiero, but my feedback to you would be to test-drive the Fiero and the Pulsar 180 cc and see what you like. I personally did not like the Honda CBZ.
This bike is definitely worth a test drive and a serious consideration.
