Well... Finally, I went for a bike. Have been planning to go for one from my college days but my plans always got delayed. Now, I wanted this to be a perfect bike. So, I started test riding various ones as follows:

1) Yamaha 125cc - Nothing doing here. It was good at one time but now it does not look so good. Nor are the accesessories good. Mostly plastic. And quite costly.

2) Bajaj Pulsar - Now, here is a bike I can go for. Nice pickup, good milieage. Looks great and a trusted company. The new DTS model is also making waves. Thought a lot about this bike but didnt go for it finally. Major reason is that I dont think this is a good one for a family bike. I recently got married and would definitely like my wife and parents to sit on it with me. Later on, maybe my child too. But, the seat is a problem.

Only my wife can sit on this as she wears jeans. Nothing to doing with salwar-suits and sarees. This bike is not for them. Some other problems too like tyre grip, handeling, etc... not good with a lady sitting behind you. So final opinion was that this bike is good for a bachelor or a student and not for a family. So, leave it.

3) TVS Victor - Another Good bike. But, Pulsar was better. Looks better, More power. This bike is cheaper and higher average but less power. And then, in my opinion this bike is too common now-a-days.

4) Enfield - By this time, I was thinking of going for the ThunderBird. This bike looks great and is better in everything when compared to Pulsar. But, unfortunately, its price is also better when compared to pulsar. Toooooo costly.... 80000+. Should I shell out so much money? Not decided yet.

5) Fiero FX - Heard this new bike has just come up in the market. So, I went to test ride this also and arrived at the nearest showroom. WOW!!! Looks great. Infact, looks just like Thunder Bird. Similar front, mirrors, etc.... Now, I went and talked to some shop-guy there. He told me that it costs just 55000 bucks. This was another plus. Pulsar is 60000+. Then, he tells me that is the engine is same as was in Fiero F2. This bike is good with no hassels and has been proven in the market for some years now. This is another advantage as I am not the one to test a new technology. I go for the safe and tested ways. Well, this bike looks good so far.

Now, how about test-driving it? Wow. Its good here too. Good pickup. 150cc engine. Disc brakes are heavenly. And the average they say is around 65-70. So, I should get atleast 50-55 in city conditions. By this time, I had almost decided on this bike. Saw the colors too. All of them good and different. Not the usual run-of-the-mill colors. So, within a week... I BOUGHT A NEW BLACK TVS FIERO FX.

Now, I am driving this for about 1.5 months. No problems till now. I heard that side stand beeper is not functioning well for some, but for me... no probs on that front. There was some noise near the back wheel sometimes. I showed this to the service centre and they rectified it. Just the chain was to be a little tight.

But, one problem is there. There is some problem in its fuel indicator. The fuel indicator shows that it is in reserve but the bike has around 1 litre in ON condition yet. There is some problem there.

The average I am getting is around 53-57 kms/litre. This is better than my expectations. Overall, I am quite happy with my decision.
