I bought a starcity es 2009 model, alloywheels and self start at 45000/- approx on road with a 500 discount and a pair of sonata watches(yet to receive the watch as dealer didnt have stock). I wl take you all through an initial performance of the vehical and its nearest competetion.

TVS STAR CITY 110

Engine:110 cc cvti, smooth, proven frugal.

Looks: The black theme looks good, overall not sleek, fuel tank dated few fresh design elements nice instrument lightings.

Reliability: Its been around for few years and reliable.

Features: self start, big bike feel, good handling, powerful healdlamp.

Value for money: One of the best bargains, its cheap.

Feel Good Factor/ Ownership experience: You get more for what you pay and as a package its loaded with everything an executive 100cc commuter might want!!

Brand appeal:Exept for apache fans tvs bikes brand appeal not good with youngsters

Verdict: Good overall package.

HH Passion Pro

Engine:97cc mill transplanted from CD deluxe, painted black tuned to produce more torque and called revolutionary engine( never mind its an age old hero honda trick for rural customers)

Looks: Looks like a granny in tight skirt and heavy make up, all those gaudy coloured body stickers(the green and red ones) red shocks, yellow instruments clearly for rural customers then again design is subjective.

Reliability: Proven engine, frugal, reliable but tiny for the bike and underpowered. Many cutomers of passion dont know its a 97cc engine.

Features: Self start and fresh looks(for HH range)

Value for money: a loaded version with self start and alloys cost nearly as much as 125cc bikes and not worth the money.

Feel Good Factor/ Ownership experience: Aimed only at HH customers, good resale value so good.

Brand appeal: Its HH

Verdict: Not worth the extra money

YAMAHA ALBA

Engine:106cc sohc

Looks:The design not radical but grows in you with time, nice looking though.

Reliability: Proven engine.

Features:Self start, big bike feel, very goog seats

Value for money: great fit and finish and worth the extra bucks.

Feel Good Factor/ Ownership experience: Its ill fated and shunned by the public and less reale value so in future ownership experience may be bad if yamaha pulls the plug off alba.

Brand appeal: begining to grow

Verdict: To late to rescue this nice product.

XCD 125cc

Engine:125cc dtsi engine

Looks:The best looker, but very small dimentions its a smal bike.

Reliability: A big NO

Features:Loaded with goodies

Value for money:Great value for money

Feel Good Factor/ Ownership experience: People who bought the XCd feel it may not last longer than 5 years _flimsy build so experience is bad.

Brand appeal: Next to HH

Verdict: Its very good in some but very bad in others.

Before buying the starcity I tested all these vehicals and bought the starcity as I felt as a whole package its the best deal, initial ride has been good but engine sounds a bit different from those used to victor or earlier starcity noice, and has a bit clatter sound, lets see after the first service.

I dont know the resale and brand appeal of tvs in north india but in south its good for starcity.

The black themed bike with purple or greay sticker looks gorgeous and distinct on road(please dont judge the looks of this bike seeing the red version which is often photographed and published.

The engine has good low end grunt ie torgue and feels powerful but not a highway performer and an good and able handler for the city.I will post further reviews once I put this bike on longer rides.

Thanks guys
