An review after driving the bike for about 58, 000 km ie. and being with tvs bike for nearly 3 years

TVS sport es: The bike is easy to handle in the city, comfortable and economical 100 cc bike.

I moved to tvs sport es because TVS has also got high end cc bikes under its belt so I thought that the 100 cc bike should be good. My usual driving is about 60 to 70 km daily and I maintain the bike as per book.

My problems with TVS sport ES are :

  1. The petrol indicator failed when the odometer reading was just 500 km. I followed up with the dealer till my odometer reading showed 20, 000(ie. approx 1 year) and failed to get replacement even though they assured that I will get back. Later on I found that it is not working in many bikes

  2. Mileage I got around 60-64 kmpl which I am satisfied with against the advertised 84

  3. The bike tyres are not upto the mark and I have changed the front tyre(tvs make) after riding 40, 000 km(when compared to 56, 000 km in my hero honda earlier using mrf tyres)

  4. I noticed there was some noise, when I serviced during 50, 000 km and on inquiring I found that the engine has to be opened - so opened and overhauled

My comments:

  1. I believe that Engine is the most important part of the bike. But with my previous experience with hero Honda cd 100 ss and super splendor, I feel that the engine is not upto the mark for a bike belonging to tvs company. I opened the engine for my cd100 ss at 70, 000 km and for supersplendor it is 1, 25, 000 km.

  2. The indicator switch is still hard to operate and it gets worse if rain water sweeps in

  3. The front brakes too gets somewhat jammed during raining

  4. I hardly use the clutch lever but I have replaced it once because it got broken

  5. The passing light switch is also useless as it cannot be used during night

  6. The tvs tyres are not upto the mark. I dont know why tvs does not upgrades their tyre technology

  7. Saree guard got rusted and replaced

  8. The dynamo got replaced

If cheaper bikes are not of good quality, it will be better to opt for a high end bike and while doing that consider the above points.
