Hi friends

I am writing this review after using Fiero for 30000 kms.

With lot of enthu I bought a suzuki fiero in 2001 January. It was a real feast driving this bike. Lot of pick-up, good milage and excellent handling. However during the inintial months I could observe some odd sound during gear shift. I reported this to mechanic but they were quite novice to tackle such issues. I had no option but to carry on. Within the first five thousand kilometers its rear shocker started troubling me and it finally gave way within three years ( 20000 kms). It is impotant to note that I am a person of average built and single handedly used this bike . When I replaced the shockers then came the clutch plates and ignition key. This time it cost me in tune of 2500 bucks. In the mean time I realised poor milage from my bike. The mechanic found jammed mixture screw of carburettor. He told me that this a common problem with Fiero and it required lathe work. I spent lavishly on maintence of this bike because of so many obvious reasons. Once I was on a long trip when the engine started causing severe problem. Again I went to the mechanic and he declared engine seizure i.e. spend another 5000 bucks. Within next six months there was again engine seizure i.e. spend another 5000 bucks. And just after six months another engine seizure. This time the estimated cost of maintenance was 9000 bucks. It included complete engine knock down. The expert said that a faulty crank shaft assembly was causing all this repeated engine failures. Needless to say I got determined to sell it off. To my dismay, my 54000 bucks costly fiero is worth 13000 bucks only in the resale market. Now I can understand why most of the Fieros have disappeared from Delhi! Certainly it is now a big no for me to TVS products. I summarise my experience as below:

  1. Fiero is not a durable motorcycle.

  2. TVS after sale service is very poor.

  3. It is a maintenance prone bike while its spares are among the costliest.

  4. Its resale value is among the lowest.
