I purchased an Apache a few months back and am extremely happy with it. What really tickled me was that it turned heads everywhere I went. What to speak of youngsters, even villagers (no disrespect meant) and little 1std kids seem to take notice. What is with this bike?   Now, I am an industrial designer and I can tell you that this is one bike that people over at TVS appear to have put their heart and soul in to design. Everything, down to the last nut & bolt, is carefully designed, produced, to give a very beautiful product. Even little things like the little expansion chamber (catalytic converter? I haven’t the faintest idea what) is lovingly designed and manufactured. In the pulsar this same thing is a crude affair. I am glad that finally Indian manufacturers are paying attention to detail and design.   Pros, cons...it seems very stable, comfortable to ride, etc., it does not vibrate (I have heard that being bandied about, and know that it has been put there by one of those biker types)however, even at a dangerous 70, to me at least, it seems okay. At least there is no fear of it coming apart at the seams. The headlight styling is a little too plain; the pulsars’ ’riveted’ look seems more classy, and in the fifth gear, initially at least, I kept thinking that I am still in the fourth. Later however, I realized that that extra torque or whatever it is called, does come in handy at higher speeds.   I usually drive a car, and bought this bike for its looks (I like to admire it just standing there in my driveway!!)and to occasionally take it out for a spin in the evening. My friends and their wives are, needless to add, green with envy. Frankly, no other bike would suits my needs; I would rather not be seen on a bike that looks like an spindly moped, and has a lot of ugly decals/graphics. What am trying to say is that, I needed a muscular bike that said ’classy rich man’s recreational ride’ as opposed to commuterish, I-bought-it-to-zip-to-work. And, that the Apache says with style. Finally, whatever niggling problems that may be reported are just that. Fundamentally, this is one well-built machine, of international quality.
