Thank God It?s Friday, was a big hit with all of my friends and me, and we regularly went there; mostly to eat (the amazing chicken cubes in a hot Mexican gravy with rice) or just catch up on drinks once in a while after work.
I like the place, for its Mexican food, cheery atmosphere, where just about anybody of any age group can fit right in, the music that?s mostly neutral- appeals to most, and the waiters who were once friendly and competent. Infact this aspect at present is my only grievance.
Once upon a time, if we attended in groups or just twos, there would be a ?Nikhil? of ?Cherry?- friendly but not excessively so. Where you got what you ordered, with maybe a suggestion of something better, a few pleasantries and a smile.
Lately, in the past 5 months or so, you still get what you ordered, accompanied by lots of what you didn?t- like remarks about your friend who just went to the ladies room, about who you came with on your last visit there and basically unnecessary outspokenness.
I don?t want a stranger (waiter or not a waiter) enlightening me on my friends progressive dress sense or the lack of it, or suggestions of when to come to find a more boisterous crowd who I might connect with, or how well a shade of red suits me. It?s just being very familiar.
This is, ofcourse a major character perceiving flaw (indifference) on the part of the management, where they?re supposed to employ waiting-on people for their efficiency and courteously friendly nature, not to attempt to provide a best-friend for every customer that comes to drink/eat.
Being a regular there, I?m waiting for TGIF to change their batch of current waiters. I?m sure there are many sufferers in twos/groups of girls that like to hang out without the presence of overtly concerned waiters who actually feel that just by seeing you dining often at the restaurant, have accomplished a right to invade your space.
I?m a friendly person by nature (I hope), but know the difference between casual attention and a person who crosses the line.
It?s a sad reflection on a great place to hang out at, but is a reality for some. And I still have to speak to the management for some kind of a modification, since it concerns just 2-3 waiting persons.
