Hear no evil, see no evil. Review on Syriana Movie

Syriana is a movie that makes you sit up and take notice of the slimy world of oil trading. It is a thought provoking story of how USA is single handedly ruling the oil economy. The movie may not be claimed to be based on a true story but it will make you think none the less. The movie has 3 central characters. One is George Clooney a secret service agent who is sent on dangerous missions in the Middle East, the second is Matt Damon who is part of a financial company based in Switzerland and the third is a Prince of an oil producing nation. The director has spared no expense in systematically ripping apart the shroud of security that many of the American citizens are probably living in. The story is based on a novel and I will make sure I get a hold of it if I can. Because until today I was under the false assumption that Iraq was all about terrorism and nuclear threats. But the moment I walked out of the movie theatre I could already feel my thought process being altered and my mind beginning to wonder was Iraq really just about terrorism. The movie brilliantly depicts the various trials and tribulations people go through in their lives. Syriana really does make you sit up and there is not a single dull moment in the movie. It once again portrays the age old story of how America’s weapons are used against it, but I feel the one illusion the movie does make you move out of is that the middle east is full of ignorant extremists. I feel the role of Prince Nasser is pivotal not only to the movie but it really makes you feel sorry for the terrible situation even a prince can find himself in. George Clooney has done his role full justice and he rightly won an Oscar for his role. The movie is at times very explicit especially the scene when George Clooney is being tortured by a terrorist in Beirut. Matt Damon too has played a good part in the movie but his role has been overshadowed to a large extent by Clooney who no doubt holds his own in the movie. However I feel the role of Prince Nasser is also very well played. The movie could have been 3 hours long and could well have been 3 separate movies. I can safely say it is 3 movies for the price of one and the day the CD for Syriana comes out I will be the first to go and buy it. Watch this movie if you are in the mood for some intellectual simulation and let me clearly say it is NOT an traditional action movie at all and you will be better of waiting for underworld evolution. All in all a movie that reveals the skulduggery and deceit that takes place in the oil world.
