Syriana, dwells at the edges, middle eastern politics, corruption and intrigue surrounding Oil.
George Clooney plays a seasoned CIA agent, whose mission is to assassinate terrorists as well as finding a cushy job in D.C. Jeffrey Wright is a Washington D.C. attorney attempting to iron out the wrinkles for a shady merger between two major oil companies with heavy interests in the middle east. Matt Damon, plays a energy analyst turned financial advisor to a liberal Prince, who harbours big dreams of modernizing his kingdom, by developing a diverse economy with less dependence on Oil, which contravenes with the interests of the US stranglehold of the region.
The movie has various stories occuring in parallel, and all of them congregate in the end to make a powerful concoction to enjoy.
George Clooney, gruffy and unshaven, delivers a powerful performance, and is the glue to hold the movie tight.
The best scene of the movie are related to the futile pursuit of the prince by Clooney, to save his life, while before being killed by a US satellite guided missile as well as the lawyer's role in the 2 firms merger.
The blind spot in the movie involves a Pakistani boy working in the Arab oilfield who is laid off because of the loss of the drilling rights of one of the merger partners and becomes a terrorist.
This movie is not for everyone, an american foreign policy oriented dig, self centred sheikhs, and the like.
