Protect Yourself. Review on Synergie Sun Control

The benefits and advantages of the Sun are only too well-known but along with the good things the sun's UVA and UVB rays cause immense damage to our skin and we all know prolonged exposure could also result in skin cancer. With the hole in the ozone layer, our planet is getting more and more quantity of the damaging sun rays thus speeding up the damage to our skin. Sun Screens or Sun Control creams protect our skin from burning, tanning and also from the cancer causing ultra violet rays.

Synergie Sun Control comes with a high Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of 15 as opposed the a SPF of 5 of the market leader and most well-known brand of Lakme. The main benefits of this product are :

1. Double UV filter to give double protection from the UVA & UVB rays.

2.Mexoryl SX, a patented molecule for long lasting UV protection. I did some research on this molecule on the internet and apparently it does really have features that protect us from the UVA rays of the sun. Lo real , in fact has been using this product since 1993 and also has a patent on it. Another web site dermatology.org also lists down the benefits of this molecule and I quote from that site : ''Mexoryl SX is a new sunscreen agent with maximal absorption in the mid-UVA that also offers some UVB protection''. So there should'nt really be any doubt on the effectiveness of Mexoryl SX.

1. Vitamin E to help reduce the signs of aging.

   
   




2. Natural extracts of Coriander & Vegatal Glycerol to moisturise the skin. The cream is light pink in color and extremely creamy and thick as opposed to the watery lakme. Just a little portion spreads out evenly on the face and one can actually feel the cream moisturising and softening the facial skin.

   
   

However, the pack doesn't say that it is water or sweat proof. This is really a big disadvatage in a country like India which has a extremely humid climate. Garnier should look into this aspect specially since the herbal sun block Lotus claims to be sweat proof.

Usage:

1. Apply evenly over face, neck and arms (if exposed) in generous proportions and don't forget that you have to give a upward movement while applying the sun block so as not to ''Pull'' on the delicate face and neck skin.

   
   




2. For any sun screen to be effective, it has to be applied at least 20 minutes before going out in the sun. This gives the cream time to seep into the skin which makes it's job easier.

   
   




3. Re-apply it every 2 hours if the cream is not sweat proof as the sweat drains out the cream from the face.

   
   




4. Always use a sun block with a minimum SPF of 15. (The dermatology website does say that if a product says it gives a SPF of 15, it in reality will give a protection of less than 15. So if we want a protection of 15 we should use a SPF of 30. Now I did'nt know that!) .Of course, if you are more sensitive to the sun and your skin burns easily then you should use a higher SPF sun block.

   
   




5. Prefrably avoid going out in the sun between 12 to 5 pm but if you have to then apart from the sun-screen try and wear a hat or cap and glares or sun-glasses.

   
   

I have been using this product for a few months now and it has really allowed me to spend more time out in the sun. The moistureisng action also works pretty well as I do feel that my facial skin has improved. All said and done a pretty good product that is worth the extra money spent. Yes it is a little expensive but it's cheaper than to have our skins burned and to expose our selves to the cancer causing Ultra violet rays of the sun.
