I had the opportunity to stay there for 7+ months! Have not actually moved around much like a tourist. So this could be a different type of review...

Weather: winters can be pretty cold, but it doesnt snow. So its bearable. All public buildings are centrally heated and most homes will have some heating, and so the cold would affect only while you travel. The same goes with summer. But being Indian, summers shouldnt affect us :-)

Cleanliness: The roads are complete - from footpath to footpath. No dirt tracks, so no dust. Clean crisp air.

People: VERY friendly. VERY Humane. When they ask if you need help, they mean it! A most cosmopolitan society. You will see as many Asians (Hong Kong, Malay, Indonesian) as you would people of European descent.

Food: As cosmopolitan as the society. There are few good Indian restaurants too. One of the best places to go for a quick lunch would be a large shopping mall. One entire floor is usually dedicated to restaurants of all cuisines. You get a chance to taste many flavours of New Zealand and other icecreams too.

Travel: CityRail is good. The stations are manned by as few personnel as possible. Same person will sell tickets, and then even sweep the floor... and then wave the train off! And will answer all your reasonable questions!

Harbour Bridge: You MUST walk across this bridge! A fantastic feeling as you walk across the bridge - theres a footpath for just that. And a cycle path too. Best time to do it is in the evening.

Opera House: Dont dismiss this one saying ''I am not going to sit for an opera anyway''. You should walk upto it, and sit aimlessly on one of the benches behind it. Beautiful feeling as you look onto the sea beyond... and the Harbour Bridge at a distance...

Toronga Zoo: Not a very large zoo. But very well done indeed. After seeing this I felt we should probably close down at least a few of our zoos here! The animals and birds have a lot of free space and as much natural habitat type of environment for themselves!

Westfield: chain of large shopping malls. There is the largest one in Parramatta. Seven storied building. I spend many free afternoons there... just window shopping - which most of us Indians love to do!

Many places of tourist interest and weekend destinations nearby. Residents travel to these destinations mainly by car - even to far away places like Melbourne (8-9 hrs by car)!

All in all, you would have enjoyed your time spent there.
