A mixture of beauty, technical innovations and excellence is how I picture Swiss. Probably one of the most beautiful places I have been too. My itinerary included a trip from Zurich to Geneva by GOLDEN PASS train with hops in between. We purchased a Swiss train pass for the trip, which is pretty economical, convenient and you get a youth discount if you are below 25. The trains are just out of this world, a technical marvel I would say. The views are just fabulous from the Golden Pass PANORAMIC train (if only I had more days). Anyway we took our break at INTERLAKEN, one of the finest places on this earth. If you are an adventure freak this is THE place for you. One can go for para jumping, para gliding, hang gliding, glacier flights, white water rafting, helicopter rides, trekking, mountain climbing, canoeing, sailing, mountain scooter, lake cruises and of course snow boarding, snow skiing and string of other adventurous sports. You can also go to the top of EUROPE i.e. Juangfraugh by a train from INTERLAKEN and enjoy the view from up there.
You can also go to the cities around this place which host a lot of similar activities and are really scenic. Did I mention the lakes in Swiss; well I cannot remember any place in Switzerland, which does not have a lake in walking distance.
In Interlaken there are a lot of good hotels and a couple of back packers inns (for people like us). We stayed in a backpacker’s inn called Ballmer’s Inn. It has a nice disc and bar in the basement. It is the place to be in INTERLAKEN if you are with friends.
Once you are done with Interlaken you can again hop on to the panoramic train and don't forget to get down at Zweisimmen and take the cable car to the top of the mountain.
In the end I will just like to clear a very evident misconception in India (due to Bollywood I guess) that Swiss is a great place for honeymoon, well it is not. If you really want to enjoy Swiss and have all the fun, go there with friends and stay at places like Ballmer's inns.
