Swades is going to be the biggest flop of SRK in the last 10 years, take it from me.. 3hrs and 20 mins..thats what they say coz I sat only for 2 hours of the premier and like me many celebrities also were making the beeline for the parking lot when I was leaving the hall a little after the interval.
The problem with Swdesh is that its beautiful to look at but absolutely no content..no HEART.It shows SRK as a NASA scientist who comes to India to trace some old roots and ends up with a rented caravan in an interior village.
The movie then just drags needlessly showing things which really do not get you interested. A few spattered scenes still remind you ...YES! this is a Aushotosh Gowaritkar film...the man who made Lagaan! It still cannot sink in that this is a movie from the man who made Lagaan.
The Scene where SRK ,who till then is always shown with a bottle of Mineral water, drinks the water in a railway station from a Khuller after seeing the poverty around.
SRK looks tired throughout the movie, Gayatri Joshi looks good but has a long way to go and hasnt got a whole range of emotions to show. The Music is another letdown.The rest of the cast havent got much of a well defined character like Lagaan and are inspid.
My personal feeling is that Ashutosh Gowartikar still feels the hurt of not winning the Oscar after coming so close and has just tried too hard to make a Oscar winner, but instead u get this long drawn out documentry.
