Yesterday after the midnight show, me and my dad were coming back in taxi. And we had a very heated debate. He said, ''I feel pity for Ashutosh?'' I asked him why. He answered, ''He is stuck in the same theme (patriotism), with the same point to make'' That is when I got really angry.

If a man wants to make a movie that is close to his heart, why not? Let a man be close to his heart and soul. Ashutosh was inspired by a rediff magazine article about a Keralite who gives electricity to a village, and was not focused on making a patriotic movie from the beginning.

Then I here that critics says that in every frame of Swades, the director tries to force a moral lesson tablet into our mouth. I simply listen to the critics because they are boring and stupid, one of them being taran adarsh - ''the box-office critic than a film critic.'' I belive when I ( 17 years old) put my feet on my home's ground I feel the same as Mohan Bhargav, when he comes to India after years. What can I do, when my dad does not allow me to be in India, except for visit.

There is a spirit there, which I do not find anywhere - Swades. Swades is long, and inconsistent. At the start of many frames in the last half, you feel it is being dragged but, then you drift into it smoothly - therein lies the power of a good flimmaker. The way he shoots khan's entrance into India, and his smooth arrival into the Village is heartfelt.

Sync sound has made hindi cinema much more credible - the bird's noises, the crowd's noises --ooh India- I feel it!! I loved the film in the sense that it grows from the roots. The movie is like a plant- it is inconsistent, but then it grows into a beautiful green plant. The best scene indian cinema has offered this year lies in the turn of Swades- when mohan learns his lesson, ( an imaginary slap) when he saw the farmer and his families problems and his almost emotional outburst during his train trip back when he saw a boy selling cups of water, and earns his money.

Those scenes take you in. The picturization in one of the songs look weak but, throughout the movie it is great - he takes the rural feel and the homely feel into us. Editor - yes there in lies the problem. Let us not speak about him - he spoiled the movie maybe he was on a long honeymoon, if so we forgive him. You feel there is potential in India, and there is!, but it is not at all taped (there is more than IT, if It is destroyed what is left but men with their stomach growling). This is what khan tackles in the movie.

Finally Shahrukh is an authentic actor, may be after DDLJ, Yes Boss, and Dil se. Is he really there? He is great and now I can say that this man touched me with his controlled but painful tears- Great acting. Guys this is the best he has to offer - do give credit to him.

My biggest enemy right now is my dad, who criticized it not because of bad movie for him, but a choice that the director made - what stupidity. Ashutosh is the dream to us filmmakers in the future. We will try hard to compliment what he will do. Watch it alone or with family, but do not be biased, like many.Watch our for that girl, Geeta, she is good. And watch out for all characters- beautiful.
