Rehman strikes again. Review on Swades Songs

Well, If a movie features srk as da lead male,directed by ashutosh and the jodi of music maestro a.r.rehman and legendary lyricist javed akhtar has 2 b sumwht gr8 musically. and 'swades' is such an album which fulfils ur expectation.the film swades is based in a rural area and talks bout how a man(SRK) changes da mindset of the rural people.so the film needed such music which could suit da platform of da script and rehman did an excellent job in dat regard.so lets get into da songs.

the album kicks off with ''yeh tara woh tara'' which has a rich flavor of folk tune and the lyrics are very catchy and soothing.the tempo and rythm has been organized excellently and the orchestra has been up to da mark.the song is sung by udit narayan yet again proving dat he is da best in da industry when it comes to singing folk songs wht he did in laagan also.specially when da song starts the rendition and feel he gave to the song is awsome. again,two child artists are used and full credit to a.r.rehman dat he has made them fit well in the song and picturization of the song is situational and good.

then comes ''ahista ahista'' which seems to be a lori and situational song.the song is very rich in melody and the lyrics are worthy listening.the song needs a quiet listening and rehman used less instrument to emphasise on the melody.the good thin bout da song is the use of santoor in da song which is less used these days. the singers are udit and sadhana sargam and they prove their credibility.udit has da most portion with his melodious voice and sadhana does a gr8 job 2.

after dat it is time for the gr8 rehman himself to go behind da microphone.the song is ''yeh jo des hai tera'' & reveals the feelings of a man for his motherland.possibly picturized on srk and the song is undoubtedly one of the best of the lot.the orchestra is gr8 and da lyrics are very good.

there are two instrumentals in the album.one is of flute and the other one of shehnai. the shehnai one starts with beautiful orchestraization and tabla is also used to perfection in da whole track with tritala.the shehnai is of numero uno and could be a gift for those who listen to instrumentals. the flute one is of pal pal hai bhari which is above average.might attract to those who listen to a lot of bhajans.

there is a bhajan ''pal pal bhari''.remember the song ''o palan haare''. though da song is not up to dat standard but it would be liked by the bhajan lovers.it is sung by sadhana sargam and she sings it to perfection and gives it the feel it needed and the musical arrangements are also good.

the next song is ''dekho na'' which seems to be da only romantic track.sung by the hit jodi of udit narayan and alka yagnik.yet again they are in the peak of their form and the feel and renditions are of high quality.musical arrangements are soft and melodious and has a classical touch to it.it is a vintage rehman track.just listen 2 dat with ur beloved one and u ll feel gr8.

the album has another track called ''sanwaria''. the speciality of the song is the lyrics penned by javed akhtar. they are of high quality and ably sung well by alka yagnik who seems to get better day by day and gettin very close to the level of lataji and ashaji.just notice the changes of the pitches and the renditions are amazing by alka.the song is possibly picturized on gayatri joshi( the heroine) and tune is good.

the last song is ''yuhi chala chal'' which seems to be the best of the album. the picturization is gr8. the song starts off with the silken voice of Hariharan and later on udit and kailash kher takes over.it is a situational track and rehman has used guitar and western music to perfection.well,it can be called a fusion to some extent.the song has certain pauses which complements the song and the changes in pitch and tempo is excellent. Udit narayan is 110% in singing and kailash kher gets a chance to show how good he is in classical renditions and hariharan plays the supporting role. full credit to rehman dat he has gelled the singers and has been able to fit them appropriately in the song.even the ending is so good dat u want 2 listen 2 dat again where three of them sing together with notations and classical touch.just gr8.

well, the album ''swades'' has every aspect of an excellent album which has folk,romantic,fusion,bhajan and soft tracks to its credit. rehman has composed very well and it has da pottential to become one of the best of the year. As far as lyrics are concerned,javed akhtar proves yet again he is da best today having yet another gr8 work to his credit. the singers udit,alka,sadhana,hari and kailash prove they are worthy and deserve to be repeated in the next of rehman.
