Suzuki has launched its entry level commuter hayate-112cc back in 2012 auto expo which is priced aggressively @Rs. 48, 111 on road Mumbai, ever since then the bike has been doing just average in terms of Shruthisharma .

STYLING:

Hayate looks tiny and suits only people who are slim and 5.5-5.9 ft, the styling of hayate is edgy and looks like puny cute fish, body color and graphics are descent and suits the design of the bike well., headlight design looks very attractive looks like it has been inspired by its bigger brother Gsr-750, the bike comes loaded with 5 spoke alloy wheels which are designed attractively.

INSTRUMENT LAYOUT DESIGN& FEATURES:

The instrument cluster of hayate has got fake carbon design around its instrument, the instrument has got two dials one on the left is for speedometer, the other on the right is for  fuel gauge, high beam, turn indicators and the shift light, however I wonder why the company has missed giving engine kill switch and pass light which has become mandatory these days.

ENGINE AND ITS PERFORMANCE:

The engine design of Suzuki hayate is an under square layout type and this results in providing good mid range performance, the engine comes with a 112cc power plant which makes 8.3 BHP of power at 7500 RPM and 8.62 NM of torque at 5500 RPM which is quite good given the fact that its curb weight is just 112kgs.

The moment you turn the engine on hayate stays very quite and one can barely notice if the engine is actually turned on, it is that quite and when revved it gives out a sound which is very crispy with mild bass effect and this particular note impresses you and make you fall in love with its exhaust note .The bike comes with 4 speed gear box(all down)which is very good its smooth and effortless. The bike reaches 80kmph mark effortlessly and achieves a true top speed of 92kmph and yes there are mild vibrations after 70kmph and the engine comes with self and kick starter.

HANDLING AND BRAKING:

Suzuki hayate comes with single tube chassis and it handles excellently, I was very much surprised with the way it handles, it feels light and flick able

Braking is were the company should have focused more, to be frank I was not much impressed with its brakes, it clearly lacks bit the company should have provided disc brake at least as an option. Both front and back are drum brakes which is annoying.

MILEAGE:

Suzuki hayate returns a mileage of 55kmpl city  and 63kmpl on highway which is quite descent.

UPDATES FROM THE COMPANY:

The company has provided some updates to the hayate in 2014 by installing tubeless tires and maintenance free battery and new graphics and colour options but still they could have given an engine upgrade and provide some design improvements.

overall it is a value for money entry level commuter.
