I am in general happy with the bike ( Gixxer 150) however there are a couple of let-offs with suzuki in general and my gixxer 150 in particular. The issue with suzuki is the servicing teams available who hardly reach a rating of 4/5 and the ones with decent ratings still lack in the customer satisfaction index. I have been associate with the SMK motors at porur, chennai for purchase as well as servicing of my bike which has a good rating among the chennai centers. Scratches are mostly a given during servicing and teflon coating to help safeguard it hadnt been provided for first three services.
Wrt to my bike in particular -
The issues raised by me with regard to gear selection had been addressed to by an "adjustment" to the gears the details of which are unknown. The issue raised was problem with gear shift vis-a-vis the bike entering into a no-gear zone in between gears while shifting. After riding a mere 3000 kms, the gear selector failed forcing me to ride ~ 40 kms on gear 5 ( as it wouldn't shift down anymore) in a traffic dense city like chennai. Had the initial issue been taken care of diligently, I wouldn't have been forced into this situation on one hand while on the other, the quality of gear selector chosen was poor for the hard gear designed for the bike.
I am afraid the ride would have also done a good amount of damage to the clutch disc and suzuki would hardly respond to the drop in life caused by the poor material selection on its part.
The bike gave good mileage at ~ 47-49 kmpl for city ride. However my first long ride to bangalore was disappointing with a mileage of about 28kmpl. I had chosen the bike more so for its mileage despite its engine volume ( cc) . Feedbacks from riders hinted a mileage of about 45 kmpl for long drives. This was 1 week post third service wherein I had specifically asked to check the mileage aspect of the bike hinting a pending long drive nearby. Such a huge drop in mileage is to me a serious let down.
