Hi

Writing my third review on Mouthshut.com(After Maruti A star & Discover 100 cc DTSI).

Used Bajaj Discover for 7 years. It was time to purchase a new bike which is a relatively more powerful, comfortable and new generation.

My primary use is going to the office and sometimes short trips to nearby places.

Shortlisted Honda Unicorn, Honda CB Hornet, Bajaj V 150 and Suzuki Gixxer. Did not consider Pulsar 150 as I had used it for a few years and so would like to try a new bike.

After reading the reviews, I was making my mind for Honda Unicorn 150. As CB Hornet waiting period was more and was costliest of the three and Gixxer was having high pillion seat and it may not be comfortable for my wife as a pillion rider. More ever Unicorn 150 was within my budget. Went to Honda showrooms many times but not able to get a test drive. The rush in showrooms was so much that no one was getting proper attention. I was disappointed and felt that the same will be the case after purchasing during service or any other problem. I will not get attention due to the huge crowd.

Got chance to test drive Bajaj V 150. The bike is comfortable and has good pickup. But the review of the bike was not so good and more ever it was a new launch.

Taken test drive for Yamaha FZ(FI). It is a very good looking bike but the cost is more and mileage is less in comparison with other 150 cc bikes.

So went to Suzuki Dealer. There was not much rush. I was shown the bike and took the road test. They are not a market leader and hence value their customer. The bike is comfortable for a person of average to tall height. The seating position is slightly forward and not fully straight for me.(My height is 5'7") I was impressed with the bike since the beginning due to the Suzuki brand and the user reviews of the bike available on various portals. It is among best 150 cc bike. But was hesitant only due to the Pillion seat height and comfort for the pillion.

Finally settled for purchase Gixxer. No waiting period and effortless purchase. Purchased the bike on 16 July 2017 from Heera Suzuki, Pune. Delivery was done within a week with all accessories.

Now coming to the bike. It has a very smooth and powerful engine. It is very comfortable for a rider with good suspension. It absorbs bad roads nicely without much jerk to the back. The on-road mileage in Pune city is 48-52 kmpl. I have not gone on long drive till date and used the bike mostly for commuting to the office.

I have used the bike for more than 1 year 6 month and done 4 free and 3 paid service all at Heera Suzuki. Average service cost with an oil change is RS. 1000. 7000 Kms done till date. No trouble and is getting smoother with time. Mileage is still in the same bracket(48-52).

Have traveled to local places many times with wife. She is not very comfortable on the pillion seat due to small pillion seat and its height. This is only negative I have observed with the bike. But it is manageable. Still happy with my decision to purchase this bike.

Edit: Now the bike is more than 4 years. The bike is running fine. Has done 15000 km. The mileage is still about 50 in city condition. Done only routine servicing and no part is changed till date.
