Really appealing at the first glance, it’s a sharp naked sportsbike styling is very young and eye catching. Also, with minimum decals, it looks rather classy. The design language is sharp and edgy, reminiscent of the Yamaha FZ, its arch rival. The headlamp gets a small body coloured bikini fairing along with a small matte plastic windscreen on top which also houses the number plate. The front mud guard is painted in body colour while the telescopic fork comes in a black shade. The alloy wheel up front houses the 266mm disc brake.Side profile is standard affair of a naked street bike with a well sculpted fuel tank, floatind side cowl, a small side panel, and engine painted in all-black. The Gixxer also gets a kick starter for times when your battery acts up. The seat is contoured to position the pillion a little higher. At the back, the rear panel is also in body colour with a body coloured grab rail. The Gixxer also comes with LED tail lamps offering better rearward visibility. The rear mud guard is a bit large, but it is a two-piece unit so you can have the slimmer permanent one by removing the extra cover provided for monsoon. The exhaust is unique for the 150cc class with a twin outlet and a chunky chrome treatment for show off. While the earlier lot was sold only with a drum brake at the back, Suzuki now has an optional rear disc variant too. Instrument cluster of the Gixxer is all-digital and displays data such as tachometer, speedometer, trip meter, gear selected, shift indicator, time, fuel gauge, etc. Plastic quality of the switch gear and other parts is top notch, and it feels like it will last the distance. The key offered by Suzuki looks and feels cool. Riding position is also a nice balance between upright and sport with slightly rear-set footpegs. Overall, the Gixxer is an aggressive looking motorcycle.

Powering this premium motorcycle is a 155cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 2-valve petrol motor producing 14.8 BHP of power at 8, 000 RPM and 14 Nm of torque @ 6, 000 RPM matched to a 5-speed gearbox. Backed by Suzuki’s SEP(Suzuki Eco Performance) technology, the Gixxer claims to deliver 63.2 kmpl of mileage. The Gixxer is the most torquey motorcycle in its class and it reflects when you’re riding it. The bike has very good grunt from lower down the revv range which makes it a very good city commuter. You need not downshift often as you can get away in a higher gear at relatively low speed. Suzuki claims that the SEP technology helps reduce mechanical losses resulting in better overall performance.Power is delivered in linear fashion and there’s no drama or excitement over here. The engine feels refined and rides smooth when the throttle is twisted in a sedate manner. On high revvs, the engine performance tapers, but vibrations stay well under control. The clutch and gearbox work just fine, but we wish there was a 6th gear to churn out that little bit extra from this motor. The older GS150R did have a 6th gear though. Highway performance is just average.
